Parenting after 35

Endoscopy followup

Boy, was that a breeze!  I guess being a regular at our Children's hospital really helps!  One of the nurses remembered me from when we brought Owen - so she has met all of my boys.. she was both Liam's (March/recirc) & Owen's (Oct/Cleft revision) pre-op nurse.

It probably helps that we have been through worse & Keegan is soooo easy going.  But he was in & out, in no time & most of the time with a smile on his face.  They do really make it less traumatic for kids these days.  But it was interesting, there were a couple of other parents there for the same issue & their doctor told them that the kids could possibly have nightmares starting a week post procedure from the anesthesia. My older kids never did had this or told this.

Anyway.. they could not "see" any issues, but we have some nice colorful internal stomach shots of Keegan...  Save them for him?  Put them in his baby book? hmmmmm. We need to wait for the biopsy results (which is typical in infants not to see anything).

So happy that is done.. will find out Monday/Tuesday what our next step is. But so relieved to have this all behind us!

Thank you for thinking of us!

  • That is great - and what a wonderful momento.  I can see him wanting to show his friends the pictures when he gets older.  (at least my son would have wanted to - lol).  Am happy you are feeling better!
  • Glad it's over and that it went better than expected.
  • Hi-I'm coming into this late, bit just wanted to say that I'm glad the endoscopy went well. My son was diagnosed with Celiac in June. He recovered from the endoscopy in no time-- I don't remember any nightmares. We were just so thrilled to have a diagnosis and then to see his amazing reaction to his new diet. His personality changed overnight once we cut out gluten and he gained over a pound a week for the first 4 weeks. We're about 6-months post diagnosis and he is a totally healthy, happy kid. If your son ends up having Celiac, feel free to PM to chat about recipes, etc. My in-laws live in CT and they've been able to find a lot of gluten-free products for DS. Good luck.
