chicco keyfit 22 vs. 30 travel system

I just realized that the travel system we registered for (and played with in the store) is the chicco cortina keyfit 22, not the 30. I definitely want the 30 so we can use it longer- there's pretty much zero chance any baby of mine and dh's will outgrow it in length before weight.

Do you think the 30 will be heavier/more awkward than the 22? Or is the difference virtually undetectable use and convienience-wise?

    If you are worried about your LO being heavier than get the 30 for piece of mind. Fwiw my almost 20 month old isn't yet 22lbs and outgrew the 30 inch length at 15 months but we put her in the convertible seat a little after her birthday since I wasn't picking it up and bringing it on the house any longer.

    We bought the 22 system for when our son was born. I kinda felt a little upset that we didn't get the 30, but I don't think the specific store we bought it from carried it or something like that.

     Fast forward to when DS was 20-22 lbs and I was SO thankful we didn't spend the extra money on the 30 system!! A 22 lb baby is pretty darn heavy to carry around in an infant car seat and I can't imagine carrying a heavier baby around!! I was totally ready at that point to move him into a convertible carseat.

    GL on whatever you decide! I know it's a totally personal choice and preference!!

    I have the Chicco travel system and my DS fit in it until just about a year.  I did stop carrying the infant seat around at about 5/6 months.  At that point he was able to sit up in shopping carts or the stroller and it was very cumbersome and heavy to carry him in the infant seat.

    We got the Graco SnugRide32 before DS was born and BOY were we glad that we did! He was 19 lbs at only 4 months, so it was nice to have a bigger seat to accomodate our larger (in length, too, not just weight) baby.

    I highly recommend getting the 22 lb carseat. ?We had the keyfit 30 seat for DS and stopped using it around the one year mark because he was close to the height limit and I was tired of carrying that HEAVY carseat.? DS is now 19 months and weighs 28 lbs but there's no way I could carry him in the infant seat. But he passed the height limit sooner after his birthday.? I would have bought the keyfit 22 if I had a choice. My MIL insisted we get the 30 because SIL had them for her twins and used them to almost two years old. But she also used them after they were passed the 30 inches (not safe).?

    I just asked my mom, and she said I was 18 lbs at two years old and was in a rear-facing car seat until I was three. I think DH was really little, too, but I'll check with MIL at Christmas. Hopefully LO doesn't defy the odds and get huge right away.

    FWIW, you can rear-face in a convertible carseat as well.

    We accidently got the 22 when we wanted the 30 too! If DD could fit, I know I'd still be using it. Soooo conventient! My BFF on the other hand got the 30 and only used it to 6 months with her LO. I never really noticed a size difference between the 2 systems.

    I have the 30 but didn't need it. It's a waste of $. I used the infannt seat til she was about 8 months. It got soo heavy that I stopped taking it in/out of the car and it got too narrow for her shoulders and looked uncomfortable. She was much happier in her convertible seat and was never near the wgt limit on it.
