Trouble TTC

Hi, I'm muban and I'm coming out of the closet

to finally introduce myself properly.

Stats:

Me - 32; H - almost 36. Married 3/07, no children but one ridiculously entertaining and occasional pain in the ass adopted yellow lab, Dexter, age 4.

TTC related:

-long history of irregular periods dating back to my first cycle

-On/off BCP for the better part of 15 years

-Went off of BCP in 9/09 (stopped preventing) with the intent to start trying with charting and OPKs 2/10

-First 4 cycles were under 50 days. 5th Cycle went to 110 days (2/10-5/10-ended with Provera), all cycles since 5/10 have been 60+ days and ended with Provera

-1st OBGYN ordered bloodwork and a date with the dildocam, everything looked fine but she dx'd me with PCOS

-New OBGYN thinks that PCOS dx is totally nebulous, and since I don't have any glaring symptoms of PCOS (BW, US, all ok.) she has dx'd me as anovulatory.

-H had some private time with youporn and a plastic cup a few weeks back - everything was normal with his SA.

-I'm doing my HSG tomorrow. (Whee!)

We have taken a pretty relaxed approach thus far, but since my body is so out of whack, and we're not getting any younger we are planning to see an RE late Jan after I return from a 2 week business trip to Asia.

So yeah, not a good place to be but I've been lurking enough to see that there is a huge wealth of information and support here and I'm grateful for that.

  • Welcome and GL!  I'm sorry you have to be here.  BTW, I give your OB's DX of PCOS the sideeye (was that enough acronyms for you?)

Yes, I gave her the sideeye when she wrote me a script for Clomid and told me to go ahead and start it whenever I was ready. Of course, she's not as bad as my old GP who recommended that I "have sex on days 10, 12, and 14 of my cycle" when I explained that I was having long cycles.

  • Welcome. I hope your stay here is a short one.

  • Thanks for the warm welcome!
  • Welcome! Sorry you had to find your way to this board. I hope your visit is short. Will you be seeing a RE? Ob/gyns are great but RE's know more about TTTC.

  • Angela: Yes. We're doing all of the initial testing under my current OBGYN since she is able to code it under something other than infertility = $0 OOP vs 50% covered for anything IF related.

We're planning to move on to a RE in late January as I will be out of the country on business for 2 weeks in early Jan.
