What a problem to have! I know it is my fault, I asked my mom first (my husband & I never go out TOGETHER).. but she said she had plans. So I asked my Mother-in-law (since I got home early today & let her leave early ; )
So of course, my mom calls me back a little while ago that she would love to watch the boys.
Here is the problem, my mom is sometimes a flake. If there is a note of snow in the forecast she may cancel (not kidding, her famous saying is "I will most likely be able to help, depending on the weather or an emergency) or she would probably stay over (no biggie). But I don't always trust her (long trust issues), so I am afraid last minute we won't have a sitter. I thought about keeping my inlaws as a backup - but that would not be fair to do to them.
But, she never watches the kids on the weekend.. she is great during the week (very very helpful) but never does Fri or Sat nights. So we usually have to ask my in-laws. Since she said yes, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I don't want to pass up - plus we might be able to save my inlaws for another night early next year!
Ahhhh more importantly .. but I have a night out with my husband!!!! & some really good friends!!!! Yipeeeeeeee!
Sorry! Much too long!
Re: What to do??? 2 sitters same night!
What would happen if you told your mom your MIL offered already, but you cancelled because your mom volunteered? Would it be less likely for her to flake if she knew you *had* another option but cancelled it for her?
Oh, good idea! She does kind of compete with my mother-in-law over the kids. So this might actually work ; )
