Traveling tips please!

We're leaving for WA state on tuesday night and while i couldn't be more excited for our first family trip, i'm nervous about flying with aiden.  He'll be on either my or DH lap.  Any recommendations of things to bring?  How did your LO do on a plane, anything you would do different?

Re: Traveling tips please!

  • I hope you get some answers! We will be flying shortly after cj's bday and I'm wondering the same things.

  • We are travelling right after xmas so I am curious too... but I asked a while ago and so far I have this:

Bring little bags to wrap diapers in after you change LO fo courtesy

Bring things they have never seen to play with (not necessarily toys, I will bring some ribbons and papers along with toys)

  • A new toy kept C occupied for a little while, lots of snacks, an extra blanket(our planes are always freezing). I walked C up and down the asile for most of our flight, he kept wanting to pull peoples hair.

I think maybe a wetbag would be good for this. There would be no smell esp if you put some pail freshner or baking soda in it. (We CD, but it think wetbags are awesome for dirty clothes, bibs etc. not just diapers :))

  • We haven't flown with them but have made several long car trips so maybe this will help:

A new toy (some type of interactive/ activity toy) , blanket, 2 pacifiers (if he takes them, this will also help during take off and landing with ears popping), plenty of snacks (variety), bring two changes of clothing, double the amount of diapers, (if he takes a sippy) extra bottles of juice/ water, Tylenol, and a teether.

Where is WA? We used to live in Bellingham. Beautiful but way too rainy for me...lol.

  • My DD loved playing with a cup that the flight attendant gave her.  She played with some toys but mainly just wanted us to play with her.  IMO, flying is so much easier than driving!
