For years I have had trouble w/ anxiety and panic attacks. I used to take medicine for it in the past but stopped because I felt better. Well since my DS was born I am very anxious I guess due to the added stress and what not. My doctor put me on zoloft for it. Anyone use it? Do you like it? TIA!
Re: Zoloft users?
I've been using it since I was about 18 weeks pregnant and still use it while breastfeeding. I like it, a lot, and it has done wonders for me.
Good Luck!
"There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good. So love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living."
I was just put on it for the same reason (years of dealing with anxiety and panic attacks). I took my first dose yesterday morning and it felt like I had taken a sleeping pill! By the girls' naptime, I couldn't force myself to stay awake anymore...
When I woke up, it felt like my heart was beating kind of fast and way too hard, and I was dizzy and nauseated and my stomach was cramping. By 9 pm, I was back in bed and was awake until 4:30am feeling shaky and just "off". I kept getting hot then cold flashes and I felt SO out of it. I remember getting up around 3am and telling DH I understood how people go crazy because my mind was going a million miles an hour about nothing in particular and all I could hear was my heart beating in my ears. It was awful!
Needless to say, I will not be taking another pill! I called my OB and am waiting to hear back from him. I spoke to a friend today who said it was trial and error for her before finding one that worked...so it sounds like that's what I'll be doing. For her, Zoloft made her extremely angry.
But I was talking to 2 friends yesterday who have been on Zoloft and had great experiences with it! I just wish I knew how severe these side-effects could be after just one pill. It was really freaky!
I hope it works out better for you, and I hope I didn't scare you...just wanted you to know what I went through. I read the side-effects list that came w/ the script and it really sounds like I got all of the "bad" ones and pretty strongly.

Overall, it's been fantastic for me. I've never been happier and I'm at a really good emotional place.
The bad: the adjustment period at the beginning was rough (increased anxiety, feeling "out of it" insomnia etc.) and I have had noticeable (20lb since March) weight gain. But the side effects (minus the extra weight) have gone away and I feel wonderful.
Bad side effects at the start aren't necessarily an indicator it's the wrong med--it could be you're starting on too high a dose. I had a terrible experience starting at 50mg and did much better gradually (over 8 weeks) working up to 100mg.
