Perhaps an airing of grievances?
I'm bored in case you couldn't tell. Jackson is playing and watching movies and Scarlett is actually ::gasp:: napping.
My vent is: Jackson's school has been canceled both days this week! Knoxville schools have been closed THREE DAYS. On M/Tu because of 2 inches of snow (not lying). Today is more reasonable because of an ice storm and the roads are actually icy. But Monday and Tuesday were just silly.
Re: vents anyone?
I feel so bad that DH and I had to get up to shovel at 515am this morning and he didnt have a delay! His back is killing him but he was still out there shoveling away with me - awesome DH.
So ready for some days off even if that means driving 2.5 hrs to see the inlaws
My 28th bday had to have been the most uneventful bday ever
We so should have had a delay today--so many kids and teachers were late.
My condo association for about the 10th time since I've lived there is telling me I owe them money. I don't like to do auto condo fees b/c we get paid every 2 weeks and I like to take them out of my non-mortgage paycheck. They charge $15 if you use a credit card. So, I'm going to have to call again and get put on hold and get this sorted out b/c they can't figure it out.
My FB status currently says something to this effect, but I absoultely cannot stand the use of "FML" (which stands for f%ck my life, for anyone who doesn't know).
It's like "Bored at work, FML." Really? You have an effing JOB, maybe your life isn't completely over. "Stuck in traffic, FML." Really? You've been slowed in your progress to DRIVE YOUR CAR from point A to point B? End of the damn world. Oh, and of course these people are all FBing or Tweeting these tragedies, indicating that they have both the time and the electronic devices to do so.
I just hate that the expression even exists when, clearly, nobody's life is ever so bad as to deserve to have "FML" announced about it.

FML...is more for serious problems - ie family member dying but not for people who are going to be late for work. I totally agree with you that it's overused!!
I wish the pedi could have given me meds to treat my symptoms too. I also wish that the name brand weren't so much more than the generic. And the allergy meds seem to be heightening the constipation issue today.
I have more but I'm not up for it now.
I disagree. I don't think there's any place for it. It's not like you would say "My best friend just died. FML." The connotation of FML is flippant, not something you would actually say in a seriously tragic situation.
My main issue with it is that there's ALWAYS something to be grateful for and to appreciate. Saying FML indicates that the person has lost sight of the big picture.
There's no such thing as using it appropriately.

ITA.
I agree with you. I would never say FML about someone dying on facebook but that would be the feeling if that makes sense?!
I have a whole separate vent, too: bad grammar, spelling, and/or punctuation. Sure, everyone makes a typo every once in awhile, but if you are, say, the GM of a local restaurant and you're sending an email to a few hundred customers advertising a fundraising dinner for a charitable foundation, it sure as hell shouldn't open with "Hey Colt's fan's!"
Fingernails on a chalkboard.

I always feel bad about leaving words out etc on this board but to honest its a quick thing I look at while I'm working away at work so I'm bound to screw up but what you said above going out to A LOT of people is really bad and pretty embarrassing!!
I don't know if this is a vent or an AW or a worry. E has started wanting to hold my hand to get himself to sleep. Yes, it is adorable, and I will admit it melted my heart a few days ago when he first held on.
However...I don't think it's going to work if he thinks I am going to be his new lovey. Specifically, if he thinks my finger is going to become his new lovey.
It's hard enough trying to sleep train, kid. Quit throwing wrenches into the works!
Ha! I noticed it and fixed it. See? Everyone makes typos SOMEtimes.
That's the other thing, I'm super anal and I always fix them. If I post a FB status and realize there's a typo, I'll delete it and re-post a corrected version.

"A lot" is two words.
Andrew's feeding therapy was canceled. I totally understand giving the weather, but I'm just bummed. It seems to be helping after 2 sessions and today's was supposed to be attempted to get him to eat meat, and I was really looking forward to it. I know it's a weird thing to be disappointed about.
I hate DH's SUV and how it is always breaking. Seriously, I just want to chuck it and get a van already.
I also really hate how my dogs shed all the time and even though I just vacuumed you can't even tell. ugh.
I have several vents and/or pet peeves.
1. Dumb people
2. Over-sharing on FB or Twitter
3. My feet are freezing, FML
Amy, #3 was for you.

Also, I SUPER HATE it when people triple-post.

Bad grammar is also a pet peeve of mine. ND girls, did you also cringe/wince when you saw the email from your Alma Mater, announcing in big, bold letters, "Check your email this weekend to find out which bowl the Irish are headed to!"
End a sentence with a preposition much?
When I complained to Michael (a fellow grammar person), he said, "Well, it may not be the correct way, but people just talk like that."
I feel like that still doesn't make it right.
my vent for today? working every night for the past two weeks (in addition to my 9-hr days) and that fact that it took me two hours to get here this morning.
Fixed. You can pay me later.
::dies:: (x3 - wtf bump?)
This is super petty but I'm annoyed that the UPS dropped my package off at the post office. Sure, it should be delivered tomorrow but I am impatient. I could go to the post office today and pick it up but our roads are crap down here and jeggings just aren't worth it. Boo.
Speaking of our roads being crap - would it kill the county to send a plow our way? Our road was still covered from the last snow and now has 3+ additional inches piled over it. Yikes. I'm pretty sure Abe's truck and the mail carrier's vehicle are the only ones that have been down our road today. I love the snow, don't get me wrong, but I would also love to be able to leave our home in the event of an emergency.
Thanks for the spellcheck Lauren - try to edit it but thebump just goes crazy. oh well. And that's just how I am!!!!
FML doesn't bother me so much. To me, it's like standing back, evaluating everything that's wrong and letting out a long collective "fuuuuuuuuuck," like the realization that life really sucks right now.
But yeah, it's overused. Stuck in traffic? That sucks, but unless, like, you're missing your wedding or the birth of your child, it's not really a FML kind of moment. Plus, if you're having a child, would you really be saying FML?
Anyway. HML (hug my life).
My vent: My husband and his desire to completely destroy the nursery just so he can rebuild it. I'll let the whole ripping-the-carpet thing slide (even though it cost us $400), but there will be no tearing down of walls. Period.
I'm ready to kick DH out of the house if he doesn't stop telling me that Mari doesn't understand when I ask her questions, and that she can't answer. I KNOW THAT. I'M NOT STUPID.
But "Would you pretty please let me sleep tonight?" or "Come on, don't you want to quit falling asleep while nursing and then screaming when I take my boob out of your mouth?" is just plain more acceptable than "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" and so I go with questions.
Mother's Day, 2011
Yes I do need to vent. Thank you.
I am completely irritated that our schools did not have a 2 hour delay this morning. The roads were horrible and one of our school buses got in an accident.
2 hour delay versus our children being safe?? Not rocket science people.
This would drive me crazy. Seriously - you have to ask these questions or you go insane.
