Indiana Babies

IHO recent BFPs

and my psychotic desire to have more kids when I have a 3m old (3m old today actually!)... time for a baby name post!

List your favorites or names you've already decided on.  :)

Boy: Robert McLaughlin Ourlastname (this was our boy name w/ Scarlett and it will stay - we'd either call him Bobby or Mac)

Girl: Penelope Juliet Ourlastname (Call her Pippa)

Other names I like: Finnian (Finn), Declan, John, Agnes, Harper, Matilda, Caroline

Re: IHO recent BFPs

  • I like the name Margaret, but only so I could call her Maggie.  But I'm done having kids, so whatevs.

    I really like Penelope.

  • Not counting our actual boy name...

Boy: Will (William) or Max (Maxwell)

    Girl: Cora Leigh

I love the name Cora so much that it almost makes me want to try one more time after this one.  I want someone on here to fall in love with it and use it so that I can at least see a baby daily with that name.

  • One of my co-workers named her baby Cora Miriam.

  • We are in the midst of discussions on this right now, but here's where I'm at:

    Boy: Rhys Andrew

Girl: Serenity Jane, Zoe Kathleen, or Nora Elizabeth

  • Yes, it was very bad for me to see the pg mamas and now to be reading all of these BFP's.

Boy: Kiptyn (I know, it's way popular, but I have LOVED it since before the hottie on the Bachelorette), Jack

    Girl: Natalie, Lainey

  • omg, I totally know what you mean. Here and on a photography board I'm on, it seems EVERYONE is preggers. I already had baby fever and it is not helping things.

I think I'm like you with the names, I'm pretty obsessed. We have two for the next kids already though and I told myself I'm going to keep them a secret :) so I'll share other names besides those that I really love.

Boys: Alastair (still my fav, DH said if we have 3 boys the 3rd could be Alastair...so maybe, someday!), Charles (Charlie), Kieran... DH really likes Jonah and while I nixed it for Rowan (at the time I really liked Josephine and didn't want a Jonah and Josephine) I like it now. I also really like Oliver, Henry and Elliott but I think they're becoming really popular.

Girls: Charlotte (Lottie) (would have been Rowan's name if he were a girl), Adele, Eleanor, Louisa, Helen, Miriam, Susannah and I loved Josephine but I think Josie is becoming really popular now too, so I took it off the list.

  • We love Liam, but it's super dumb with our last name.  DH is trying to sell me on Claudia for a girl and Elian (sp) for a boy.

My favorite names are on name lists of people close to me, who will likely have kids before I'm ready or have already been used by people we are too close to to use.

  • Boys: Dylan, Luke, Colin and Ethan... my favorite being Ethan - I just wish it wasn't so popular. Especially because it sounds so cute with our last name, and as a brother to Paige. Paige and Ethan. Sigh. At least with a zillion of them running around, maybe she'll marry one. :-)

Girls: Molly and Alice. I have no idea how we're going to decide between the two. Middle name is going to be either Therese or Marie.

I'm a big fan of short, simple names because our last name is a mouthful.

We've talked about Cora before. :-) I love it so incredibly much, and it has such a special meaning to me, but DH absolutely will not budge on it. I wanted to name Paige Cora, but he wouldn't go for it. He's more relaxed about names this time around, so I tried again, and even harder, but he still will not come around. BOO.

But that's ok because I'm falling in love with Molly and Alice. :-)

  • Gah, I love the name Penelope or Piper.  Jake nixed both for Olivia, but says I have free reign for our next baby.   We had 4 b/g names picked (all are not on this list) but if I can get his statement in writing, the names may change.

Girls -  Piper, Kate, Matilda (my grandma's name), Alice, Leah, Harper (but it sounds like a german beer with our last name), Camila, Isla

Boys - Liam, Callum, Finn, Hudson, Patrick, Ethan, Ian

  • We've talked about boy names a lot, but we always come back to Bryce.  It's DH's favorite boy name.  If we have another and it's a boy, that'll be his name. :)

Girls - I'm with Shauna - I LOVE Cora.  It was one of my favorites this time around, but DH didn't like it.  I also love Paige, Aubrey, Reese, Madeline (Maddie for short).

  • Names that have either been vetoed by DH or are already used by close friends/family:

    Girls: Leah, Madeline, Grace, Natalie

    Boys: William/Liam, Benjamin, Gavin

I have a million name ideas, but I don't want to overwhelm DH with all of them at once, especially since I'm not even pg yet.

Nerd alert: I have an excel spreadsheet for baby names. I have columns for my untested ideas, DH-approved names, and DH-vetoed names.Geeked

Haaaa, I would totally order that beer!  Sounds like a nice German wheat. =)

  • Boy: Jackson or Benjamin, middle name would be Richard, David, or Harvey (all family names)

Girl: Emilia or Natalie, middle name Claire of Kate.

I really like Finn, but it definitely does not go with our last name. ;)

  • Girls: Violet, Evelyn, Amelia, Elizabeth (Betty), Eliza, Tess

Boys: Jack Phillip Ourlastname - that's the only name I really have - Jack is my grandpa's name and phillip is DHs (along with his dad).

  • Penelope with the nickname Pippa is adorable!

    Boys: Dean, Everett

Girls: Amelia, Genevieve, Francesca, Wren, Willow

I'm struggling with names, but I honestly haven't put too much thought into it because Ryan refuses to discuss until we know what we're having (and that is Monday!).

I totally left Francesca off my list but that is one of my favorites! I hope you can use it :) (DH hates it :(

I love Francesca too!  It's such a pretty name.

Jeff thinks Penelope/Pippa is kind of silly but has agreed to it as long as he can call her Pips.  ???  Men are weird, but on the off chance I have another daughter, I'm holding him to it.  I don't care if he calls her Pippi Longstocking.

My DH suggested we name our daughter after our dog, Penny. And yes, he was serious. So if I ever have a child named Penny(Penelope) you know I was passed out when my husband filled out the paperwork.

  • Boys: No decisions but I like Oliver, Elliott, Nicholas, Samuel (won't use I don't like how it sounds with our last name)

Girls:  No decisions either but I like Clara, Elizabeth "Beth", Caroline, and Annie

  • Girl: Elizabeth Faith or Callaway Anne(Callie Anne)

Boy: Courtland(court) Lee or Dylan Thomas
