I had a drop side crib for Alexis and triple-checked it. Never had a problem. Personally, i like the look of the drop sides much better than the other cribs and being that I'm 5"2, it was impossible for me to use a crib without the drop side. I don't think they are all made the same. I know when I was shopping for furniture for Alexis, some baby furniture was not the same quality as others, some of the drop sides seemed very flimsy and not sturdy, but that does not apply to everything. I understand the ban for drop sides which are unsafe, but not across the board.

I agree. I still use a drop side crib - that I love!!! I check mine all the time. We spent a lot of money on it. I still feel confident in my drop side crib. It's made well. Although I'm not short, I like the ease of using the drop side.
I understand what you girls are saying about the convenience of the dropside, but there has to be something to it if they are banning all of them. I'm sure the moms whose babies died in dropside cribs didn't think theirs were flimsy either. I say better to be safe than sorry. I did not have a dropside crib and I'm only 5'1", it wasn't exactly easy to get her in and out on the lowest setting, but it's not impossible, and by the time you lower it all the way they are sitting or almost about to pull to standing which helps.
Yeah, I'm on the better safe than sorry side too. And I'm on the short side too. LOL
I understand the convenience but we made it work without a drop side.
Those ones that are used in hotels are scary. And I bet even after the ban, many hotels won't get rid of them.
Agree!!
