Two Under 2

One diaper bag or two?

For those of you who already have 2u2, do you think it's more convenient to have a diaper bag for each baby or combine their stuff into one?  I can think of some situations where it'd be better to have two, such as at church where DS1 is in a toddler nursery and DS2 will be in a separate room, the infant nursery.  But other than that, it seems to me that maybe it'd be better to have all their stuff in one bag.  What do you think?  Two bags or one?  I have an extra diaper bag, so I have no problems giving DS2 his own.  Just curious what your thoughts are.

Re: One diaper bag or two?

  • We keep one diaper bag stocked for both kids, so that when we're out together we only have to haul around one bag. We have a second diaper bag stocked for our DD, but we only take it if the kids are going to be separated.

  • I have the preschool backpacks (from PBK) for all four of my kids.  It's big enough to hold diapers, wipes and a change of clothes for each child. It has their name on it so they know who's is who's (even the 2 year old)  The great part about it is that the older three can carry their own.  I purchased a large open top "tote bag" so if I need I can just throw all four bags in and carry them, but I rarely need to use it.  I came to this conclusion when we started to split up the kids for activities, or Grandma wanted to take one or two out to play or for ice cream, I was left without a bag.  They hang right by the front door and we do an "inventory" every other night to make sure they are stocked are ready to go!  HTH!

  • We have a big diaper bag with essentials for both babies that I use most often.  For church (DS stays with us, DD goes to her classroom) I have a small bag for her.

  • I have one diaper bag that I keep with me whenever I am out with them both. I also have 2 of the hospital free similac backpack bags packed for each of them. So If I am only taking one baby with me and leaving one baby somewhere I can just give the baby and the small bag to whoever is watching them and I take the other small bag with me. That way I dont have to carry the big bag or leave it with someone else.

  • I have a Thirty-One obsession, and it's working to my favor.

I have a thirty one Organizing Utility Tote.  It's perfect with all the outside pockets for cups, bottles, and a quick grab for trains ;)

In the inside I have a zipper pouch specifically for my son.   It's the owl print for him with is name embroidered.  I will get one for this second baby too.  This way, if they ever seperate, or if Daddy takes a quick run, or Mommy gets a moment's peace! I don't have to bring every thing with me, but it's not like unpacking/repacking every time.

The zipper pouch is big, it holds 4 diapers, wipes case, changing mat, boogie wipes, mish mash (currently banana :D), rice milk juice box, and still has room!

And I hear they are coming out with new patterns in January!!!  ::squee!::

I really do have a Thirty One problem.
