Finding out the sex...

How far along were you when you found out the sex? Everything I have read says 20 weeks...we haven't discussed with our OB yet. This week I had SEVERAL different coworkers say to me I should be able to find out at my next appt (16 wks). Now of course I would LOVE to find out asap! I'm so excited, but I don't like getting mixed information lol. One of the girls actually said "You're so skinny, they should definitely be able to tell you!" What does that even mean?!

Just thought I'd get you girl's opinion on this.

    I have been reading 16-18weeks.  I have to go for 2 extra sono this time.  So if we can find out at 16-18w I am going to try.

    I've heard that around 17-18 wks is the earliest you can tell. Unfortunately, your size isn't the determining factor. Little boy and girl parts look too much alike before that. We found out at 20 wks when they did the anatomy scan. You will probably have a separate appointment for this in addition to your regular OB. They look at the size of the head, length of the spine/arms/legs, heart, kidneys, etc. If baby cooperates they can also tell the sex. But they have to get a good shot between the legs and it's not always easy to do.

    this.  My OB wouldn't even schedule the anatomy scan until 18 weeks.  We had ours at 19 weeks.  They do a ton of other measurements.

     This is exactly what I was worried about! I want to find out sooo badly, and so does DH- but I don't want them to tell us one thing, only to find out a few weeks later that was incorrect!!

    There seem to be a very strangely high number of ladies on the June board who already know and are 100% sold that they are correct. I give that a huge side eye when you find out at 12-14 weeks. My anatomy scan was originally scheduled for 16 weeks, but it's now scheduled for 17 weeks and we would be able to find out either way....we don't know if we're going to find out though.

    I was 16 weeks...but I was going to a specialist because I had placenta previa so I had sonograms every 2 weeks.....

    I had two friends that found out at 13 weeks that they were having boys....so I am sure they will be able to tell with you if the baby cooperates....

    Yeah. Looks like you can find out earlier than I thought. There's a higher chance of a misread with earlier scans, but it's possible.

    I had a scan at 18 weeks which is the earliest they would tell me if I asked.

    w/ E they told us 90% chance girl at 15 weeks and 100% at 19wks.
