Pregnant after a Loss

Having one of those nights....(venting)

Where I hate that I had to miscarry earlier this year.  My husband found out a little bit more of the specifics before he deploys and he basically will have one day at home between his 3 week annual training and when he deploys.  Even if I'm induced early he'll still won't be able to spend a few days at home before he leaves.  I just wanna bawl and hate the crappy timing with this even though I'm happy to be having a baby, but why couldn't I have been having one in February like I should have and wouldn't have to deal with what if's and him possibly not being there for the birth :(

  • ((HUGS)) I completely understand. They're saying DH won't be here for the birth nor will he get to come home for R&R since his tour isn't in a combat zone. (Or so they say)

He should be entitled to paternity leave. I know DH will be getting somewhere around 2 weeks of time, it's just a matter of him taking it when he gets home.

I know it's hard to deal with. I know you can't give too many details due to OPSEC, but is he going to the middle east? I've heard of soldiers taking their paternity leave along with their R&R. He should be able to get ahold of someone regarding it all.

  • ::Hugs::  I know it's frustrating, I can't imagine adding an impending birth into the mix.

Definitely have your H look into what he has due to him for paternity leave.  I know some CoC are more accommodating depending on the unit's needs.

  • So sorry, hon.  It's not fair.  But just keep reminding yourself that you have a healthy baby on the way.  And your DH is going to love him wherever he is.  Will you have family close for the birth?

  • He's working full-time with his company right now (he's national guard) so he should get paternity leave, but I'm not sure.  His commander's wife is also pregnant and due 2 days before me so that may help him get more time, but I'm not sure.  He'll still be in the states for their training for a month or 2 after the baby is born, before they head overseas, so that eases my mind a little bit.
  • My parents live about 30 minutes away and I have a few friends in my town I can call in case I go into labor early and on my own.  His mom will drop everything and come up too if I want her too.

My friend has even offered to photograph the birth so that would be great if he can't make it and even if he could, it'd be cool.

  • Ugh! I'm so sorry.  I hate that any of us had to go through what we did to land here on this board (though I do love the board).  Such a bummer that dh won't be able to spend any time with LO before deploying.  Just isn't fair.  Such unfortunate timing. (((HUGS))) to you!!
