2nd Trimester

(Vent) Warning to all husbands...

NEVER tell your wife that she is "not that pregnant!"  The other day I was complaining about my back hurting, and my dh looked at me and said, 'babe, you're not even that pregnant."   Once he said it he wanted to immediately take it back...because my eyes widened and I said "Just because I don't have a noticeable BIG belly doesn't mean that I am not pregnant!"  There is no gray area- you are either pregnant or not.

Sorry for the vent, so many people tell me that you cannot even tell I aqm pg and I know it is not a bad thing, but I think I might scream if one more person tells me that I don't look pregnant!  I know I don't have a bump- it just looks like I ate a few too many potato chips!  So if there are any other mamas who are not showing yet and are past 20 weeks...I guess we will just anxiously wait for our bump to arrive. :)

Re: (Vent) Warning to all husbands...

  • My husband said something like this a while back.  I think I was really nauseated and he said, "Lots of women work full time pregnant, and you're not even that pregnant." The point being that I should be able to get more done during the day.  That was not a happy conversation.

  • Oh...DH said that to me the other day. He got the glare and side eye. I not so politely informed him that while I am not really showing I am almost halfway through the pregnancy, and I am very much pregnant. Ugh, MEN!

  • Yuck! They just don't think before they speak! DH told me today "OMG look how big your belly looks!" Hello, I am only 3 1/2 months! He was trying to be sweet, but it just made me feel really fat.
  • BF hasn't said anything like that to me yet but when he asked me to rub his feet i look at him like im burning holes in his forehead.. how about you rub MY feet! the other day this girl i know said to me .. you dont look pregnant you just look like youv gained a ton of weight... she said it like it was a good thing. WHHHHHHAT why would you ever tell someone they look like they gained a bunch of weight preg or not number 1,  number 2 iv gained a total of 7 lbs so far im 23 weeks. i deff have no gained a bunch of weight. i wanted to be like oh you didnt tell me you were expecting again when r you due?? (shes not preg but can pull it off if she wanted) grrr
  • DH keeps nagging me to "eat a sandwich" because I don't look pregnant enough. He's going to be really disappointed if I don't gain a bunch of weight in the next couple of weeks....
  • LOL. My DH is the opposite. He's been treating me like I'm an invalid from day one.  It's kind of nice, but sometimes it gets a bit annoying to.
  • HAHAHA, you could be me...!  My DH said to me yesterday, don't get offended but you look at least 5 months pregnant, you're huge.  While he's right, I didn't need him to point it out.  My mom said today OMG, look at your belly.  The worst part is it's not even baby, it's fat that's gotten pushed up!!!!

  • DH says things like that too.... today I asked him "could you please leave the dogs leashes off the ground (rather than leaving them on the floor by the door) because it's getting harder for me to bend over and it will only get worse" and he said "you aren't even that pregnant yet... you should be able to bend over still". Then I got... "come and sit with me on the couch" and I said "I don't really fit next to you anymore" and he said "you aren't getting any smaller"... thanks DH, thanks.
  • Oh my, they have some things to learn, eh?  Next time you get a comment in that vein just remind them you don't look that big because all your internal organs are being squished instead.  And then offer to help him feel similarly.  This can be accomplished by a swift kick and/or sitting on his belly Wink

  • I heard that one too about a month ago... I think they just do not get it.
  • Thanks for posting this. FI says this to me ALL the time. I give him the stink-eye and tell him I'm carrying HIS son, he should be greatful he doesn't have to cater to me .. yet! I cannot wait until I am "THAT" pregnant and have an excuse to have him tie my shoes, help with laundry, etc.
