Dumb question; bath time and water in ears

I realize this is probably stupid, but here goes anyway!

DS lays in the sling in his baby tub and always slides down; he doesn't seem to mind but then the water line is just at his ears. Can he get an ear infection from laying with the water in his ears like that? Is there a better tub that we could get that he wouldn't slide down constantly in?

DS's pediatrician said it is best to avoid water in the ears if possible. Have you tried just putting a rolled up wash cloth or something under his bum to keep him from sliding?

Sorry, I accidentally hit post too soon.

Unfortunately I don't think the wash cloth would work, the sling is angled and he's such a little wiggleworm in there that he slides down it.

DS kept wiggling down his sling too, so I just took it out and now either rest my hand under his butt or put a washcloth there so he doesn't slip down. It works great! I'd avoid water in the ears!
