Pregnant after a Loss

Why is it so difficult to find WARM maternity clothes?

All the sweaters are paper thin.. I bought a couple from old navy in their fall line and they're not warm.. so I went to Motherhood today.. I managed to fine ONE truly warm sweater.. (another had potential but it seemed short like my belly would outgrow it in another month)..and one that seems sort of warm..  I have been monitoring the old navy selection online.. but I am nervous since the other sweaters I got were so thin..  I also would love like a nice comfy fleece or hoody too.. Even the hoody I have from motherhood that I have on today is pretty thin.

Re: Why is it so difficult to find WARM maternity clothes?

  • Most of the sweaters I've seen are longer for this season. I'd just get a non-maternity one and size up.

  • I don't know but I so wish I needed one! Its fricking 90 degrees here today, for crying out loud!
  • I know what you mean. One just arrived from target.com and it's a joke of a sweater. Also, the model in this photo must be 4 feet tall, because on me this sweater has 3/4 sleeves and the bottom of my belly hangs out of it!

The old navy hoodies with faux fur in the hood part are pretty warm. I'm going to have to wear my regular fall coat for the next couple of weeks and just not button it.?

  • I just layer the thinner pieces... mostly b/c even if I start out cold, I can de-layer when i get too warm. I usually do a tank, then thin long sleeved T, and a thin sweater.
  • I know. I even bought the "sweater COAT" from old navy and it's no warmer than my usual cardigans. I am considering returning it (partly because it may be too big anyhow). Last year I bought a nice hooded sweater from ON that is made from a thin yarn, but is a thick and heavy sweater, so it's pretty warm. I bought some long sleeved shirts and they do little more than a 3/4 length would do because they are so thin. One button front shirt looks like a business style shirt (like a normal blouse) but is paper thin and gauzey - How is this supposed to layer up any differently than me wearing a short sleeved normal shirt??? I don't know why it's so hard to find good thick stuff. Sorry you're having the same trouble.

  • Have you tried department stores at all? And it may sound stupid, but a more fitted mens sweater might work for you too. Worth a shot anyway.

  • OH, And it's still "Fall" they usually come out with some heavier stuff later in the year...I realize that doesn't work for you now being up in NY.
