This year is sad for us so we decided against our tree. (I put a wreath on the door, and decorated the table, that's it nothing else)
While we are in an apartment we plan in using fake no mess trees, however I grew up with real trees every single year, and I plan on doing the same with our future babies once we have a house.
I'm scrooging it up this year. I have a few little fake trees (including 2 pink ones) that I normally drag out but I wasn't feeling it this year.
I love real trees, if I had my way we'd have a 10 foot tall one in our living room, but DH is agnostic (recently converted from full on atheist) so he does not really get into Christmas other than as a cultural/family tradition. He would never want to "waste" money on a real tree.

This is the last year we will have a real tree for a while..I can't get the dog to stop eating the needles and puking all over my house and I am tired of having to vacuum up the needles daily to keep the dog from eating them. So next year it'll be a fake tree.
I wouldn't mind getting a fake tree if it looks close enough to a real tree. I figure we'd save money in the long run but my DH insists on the fresh ones. He loves the smell!
our main tree is real, precut, our ella tree is fake
next year i think we will have 3 or 4... our main tree, ella's tree (i need to get a new bigger one since it is full already), going to do a kitchen theme tree with the tree we are using as ella's tree now, and DH suggested ANOTHER tree for our family room that isn't finished yet. wow...

I grew up with artificial trees. DH has always had a real tree, so that is what we did and will continue to do. He LOVES this time of year and really got into the decorating. It's our first year in our new house, so he then went around the house taking pictures of all of our decorations and posted them on FB. He's so cute.

Hopelly you have better luck with the fake tree. My mom's cat chews on the branches of her fake tree, so hopefully you don't find yourself cleaning up puke with plastic pine needles in it next year

Growing up we always had a real tree. But since we live in an apartment and we cant have a real one. We have a fake tree and I hate it. I love the fresh piney smell of real trees and I think it just makes it feel so much more warmer and like Christmas.
