Would you send a shower invite or announcement?

If you know a friend won't be able to make it to your shower because they live far away would you send them a baby shower invite anyways (because you don't want them to feel left out) or wait and send them an announcement once LO is here (because you don't want them to feel like you just want a gift from them)? WWYD?

Re: Would you send a shower invite or announcement?

  • I'd do both, they're unrelated.  To me the invite is a nod that you'd love them to be there, able or not.  The birth announcement goes out to everyone you care to inform.

  • I 2nd the PP. I have great aunts that I know probably won't be able to come because they live so far away. But they're really close with the family and I'd love for them to be there. I think it's just the thought of them that makes it worth sending. Even if you want to include a little note in that friend's invite saying something to the effect of "I know you may not be able to make it. But just in case, here's the info. Love you and miss you... etc"

    Perfectly said!  I totally agree!

  • I sent them to everyone, so no one felt left out. :)
