Does anyone's LO wake periodically throughout the night on a regular basis? Like as in every night??
Brenna used to go to bed w/o a peep, maybe a little whimpering but then would be out for the rest of the night. For the last couple of months, she almost always wakes up crying (or maybe she's not really "waking" but crying nonetheless), at least once, sometimes several times....she doesn't cry for long and almost always goes back to sleep on her own and within 2-3 minutes....but I still hate it.
Just wondering if I'm not alone???
Re: waking throughout the night
Oh Liz - I'm so sorry she's still doing this! Ellie wakes up here and there but not anywhere near nightly, so I can't even imagine. Hope someone has some helpful ideas.
Looking forward to Friday!
I think Adrian was doing that at the same age as your daughter. I'm not sure if it's teething, separation anxiety or something else (or all of the above, lol). But it's good that you're letting her fall back to sleep, that's key, otherwise you'll never get her to sleep through the night. Now Adrian SSTN every night, unless he's sick or teething. The molars are coming in now so we'll see.

Liz - I might be in the minority here, but I think that is awesome. The fact that she can go back to sleep on her own is BIG. We needed sleep training to teach Sydney that.
Babies go through cycles just like we do when they are sleeping. She is probably waking during a transition from one cycle to another. She is probably irritated that he woke up, cries a little, then gets herself back down. I would say to consider yourself lucky
We are right there with you right now. S usually sleeps through the night or only wakes once or twice. For the last three nights, she is up every 30 - 45 minutes. We know it is because of teething - she's got three new teeth coming in at once (which is totally cruel) and she has a slight cold. We wonder if she is growing as well because she is wanting another bottle of formula outside of her normal eating schedule. All in all - I am a walking zombie today.
When she was about Brenna's age, she would do random "shout outs" - never waking up but still loud enough for us to run in and check on her. We thought it was due to separation anxiety and starting a new daycare. It stopped pretty quickly. I bet this will pass soon - maybe not as soon as you would like (lol). GL!
Thanks Ladies!
Dana - we sleep trained Brenna as well, which is why she is able to put herself back to sleep...so we ARE lucky, but we worked at it too!
I don't hate that she wakes up like its a "disturbence" to me...I just hate hearing her cry even though I know she is most likely just transitioning between cycles.
I guess I made it sound worse than it is...its literally 2-3 minutes...almost always 45 mins to 1 hour after she goes down...and like a pp said, it's more like a "fit", than waking-up-crying-looking-for-mommy.....
Guess I was just curious if other babies had these same "fits"....
IDK, M goes down like a charm, but usually wakes a few hours later and I give her the paci and she goes back down. She also usually wakes at about 6:30 and will go back down until 8:00 with a paci. She isn't whining/whimpering in her sleep but stands up and then starts to cry.
My delimma is that the sooner I go in, the easier/quicker she goes down so I don't know how to get her to self soothe through this.
