3rd Trimester

HR/Health ins vent

They are changing our effing health ins. Either option they give us still is going to cost a MINIMUM of $200/mo more in 2011 than it did in 2010. We can either pay less per month for crappier ins but have more out of pocket or pay more per month and less out of pocket. If I wasn't pregnant and due to give birth next year I would choose the less per month. But since I know I will hit my out of pocket max next yr it will actually save more $$ to pay more a month. Either way it costs us at least another $1200/yr or $200/mo.  THIS BLOWS!

$200 a month for a family plan? Is that all your paying out of pocket?  Compared to mine that is awesome, we are paying $500/ month out of pocket just for me and the baby, my DH gets it for free.

    $200 a month MORE

  • I suddenly don't feel so bad about paying $76 per month for my Medical Services Plan and Extended Health Benefits while I'm on mat leave.

  • :( Im sorry that sucks. However there seems to be a lot of that happening this next year, so you are not alone. Im pretty sure my work is also changing insurance companies and our premiums, etc will all change as well. Only lucky thing for me is my works insurance year is March 1-Feb 28th each year so I will have already had the baby before everything changes so it wont effect me negatively too much. Only thing that will be a pain in the ass is the cost to add the baby to the new plan will prob be more expensive, and I will prob have to change OB's 2.5 weeks after I give birth, so my followup apt at 6 weeks etc will most likely have to be at a new office with somebody I have never met :( Im just hoping my current OB will be covered under whatever new insurance plan my work chooses. That and we cant really choose a pediatrician ahead of time for the baby because we dont know who our provider will be until after the baby is born, so most likely we will just get a random person at the hospital. ugh I hate insurance!
