Mount carmel saint anns

edited July 2021 in Ohio Babies

I'm getting ready to have my first baby in november and I'm just looking for people who have experience with Mt carmel saint anns. I've heard lots of things, good and bad, so I'm just wondering what your experience with them was.

Right now I'm planning on a natural birth with as little  intervention as possible.

TIA

Re: Mount carmel saint anns

  • I have a friend who delivered there back in feb she was very happy with the whole experience. and, I work with a midwife who used to be on staff at St Ann's and I've never heard her say bad things. In my opnion you can't let other's opnions sway yours too much, because their experience could have been based of different set of expectations. Tour it and speak to staff about what your expectations are.

  • I am also delivering at St. Anns in dec.... i have heard nothing but good things about it! My midwifes love it. My sister delivered there last Jan and loved the staff and the hospital. My cousin is also a labor and delivery nurse there and has nothing but good things to say about it.

Good to know!! Just curious, who is your midwife? I JUST switched a few weeks ago. I was really afraid of chanigng so late in my pregnancy, but I really feel like I made the best choice. I'm going to Women's contemporary health care and I absolutely love it!!! Becky and Emily are the midwives there and they are so amazing.

  • Hi ladies, I am a first time mom to be. And I am currently strongly considering doing as natural as possible water birth. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated and thank in advance. I will be at St. Anns when I deliver as well. Best of luck to you

If you are considering water birth, you'll probably be going to womens contemporary health care and seeing becky and emily. They are the only people in Columbus who offer water birth. When are you due? I am due in less than 3 weeks, and I am planning on trying natural water birth, so I will let you know some things after I go through it haha.

  • Ok thanks I appreciate it. I still have awhile. I am not due until May. I pray all goes well for you.
  • Ah, I had my son there back in April. Those ladies were so nice and the midwives at the prenatal clinic were amazing. I remember one was so excited to finally get the chance to look me over and meet me because I "have such an awesome name". She told me when she looked over the roster she had to meet me. I had a C-section (couldn't give birth naturally, my birth canal is too narrow) so I got to stay for 5 days, which was nice. The food there is awesome, by the way. Oh and that Tim Hortons on the main level is great too. Mmmm donuts.

After they stop serving food for the night, there is a fridge that they keep stocked for the moms and visitors on the floor. Juices, milks, coffee, an amazing ice maker, snackies, sandwiches, bagels.

The nursery is amazing (so many neat baby swings). Don't be afraid to let them look after your newborn at night so you can get rest, even if you're breast feeding. I know it might be a bit difficult and uncomfortable with sore breasts at a certain point, but it's worth it getting that little bit of extra sleep. They offer to supplement the baby with formula so you can rest.

They took good care of me and my baby boy there at St Ann's. If you want anymore information, feel free to ask!

Also, I think the only bad thing I can remember was the doctor that came in while I was pushing was very standoffish and didn't look like she cared too much. But the midwives were great and made me feel better about having the C-section.

  • I had a wonderful repeat c-section their. The nurses were great! I just thought the rooms were so tiny compared to the rooms at the hospital where I had my first son up near Toledo.
