What kind of yogurt does your baby eat?

I'm buying YoBaby right now. Does yours eat regular adult yogurt?

Re: What kind of yogurt does your baby eat?

  • Yep.. adult stuff isn't all that much different than the baby stuff and it's usually half the price.  I'm even cheap and get the Walmart brand, since he doesn't care what it takes like.

Do you buy plain yogurt or does it have fruit in it?

  • We use yobaby or other Stonyfield yogurts since they are organic. We give her the whole milk yogurt for now.

  • We buy YoBaby or YoToddler (when it is available).  I still mix in a little cereal to thicken it up.

  • I only buy YoBaby/YoToddler for the following reasons:

    1. Made with whole milk and I want DS to have the milk fat now.

    2. I can't find any other brands that comes in whole milk.

    3. Doesn't have high fructose corn syrup like most adult yogurts.

Until I find another yogurt that doesn't have all the artificial sweeteners in it, I'm paying more for YoBaby/YoToddler.

Edited to add... apparently Danon makes a line, Dan-o-Nino, which I haven't seen in the supermarket but will look for.  This line also doesn't have high fructose corn syrup.

  • Mine eats plain greek yogurt (I guess adult).

I'm a weirdo, but I refuse to give him yogurt with any added sugar (besides the naturally occurring sugar in dairy), so the only baby yogurt I'd give him is the plain yobaby.  There's just too much added sugar in their flavors and all other brands' flavors, for me and my family's choices, in my opinion, which may not be that of anyone else.

Sometimes we add fruit to his plain yogurt, but he just inhales the stuff plain and eats cut up fruit on the side. He goes through phases, but he generally eats at least .25 of a cup a day, sometimes much more, and since he loves it and its sour taste, I don't want to interfere with that or get him used to eating so much sweet stuff.

  • We started with YoBaby but quickly moved onto plain Greek yogurt.
  • We are doing YoBaby still.

Robin - The Dan-o-Nino ones are sooooo small. Sydney could eat two or three of them. They are super cute, but.... not really enough. Unless Aaron really doesn't like yogurt. Then, I suppose it would be practical :)

  • Dana,  thanks for letting me know that they are tiny.  Aaron LOVES yogurt, so I don't think they'd work.

And I guess I haven't considered Greek yogurt because I'M not a fan. lol

This is the case for me too. I'm not a huge yogurt fan in general and definitely not if it isn't fruity or dessert-like.  I guess I assume Caroline won't like it either.

  • Kids often really like sour flavors (have you noticed how many kids love to suck on lemon wedges?), so that's why I wasn't too surprised my kiddo loves plain greek yogurt.

About the Gerber, it's just my family's choice that we don't do dairy that isn't hormone free, and I have no idea where Gerber stands on that, it's not mentioned on their site. And in general, their products contain more sugar than I like to give my kid, but I know I'm probably just a weirdo in that way, as I said earlier.

This was us too.  Yo Baby has a ton of sugar so I would mix some Yo Baby with full fat Greek yogurt.  Now he eats plain greek yogurt or I'll mix in a little bit of raspberry jam.

  • I still buy special baby yogurt because Adrian hates the little pieces of fruit in adult yogurt. I guess I could find the kind that doesn't have those pieces. It would be cheaper, lol!
