Parenting after 35

and I thought I wanted to cry yesterday...

We now have to wait 2 cycles. Dammit.

I couldn't get in today for the needed different kind of u/s (saline) that the RE wanted to do himself (as a followup for the HSG I had where a radiologist does the reading).  So I'm scheduled for Jan 7th, which should be the perfect spot in my cycle to do it.  But, he anticipates needing to do at least a D&C, which can't happen until the following wednesday.  At which time I'll be too far into my cycle to develop enough of a lining for January to be a possibility. So now I already know I have to wait until at least my FEBRUARY cycle.  I'm 41.  My RE put the fear of God into us in NOVEMBER that we were risking a lot waiting ANY months for Tx.  And now *his* schedule is making me sit out 2 whole months instead of just one.

I honestly have no idea how I'm going to make it these 2 months. I'm a weepy mess today. I'm so glad I could work from home.

  • Oh I am so sorry.  Is there a chance you may not need a D&C?

  • Well, he told the nurse he anticipates having to do "surgery," which the nurse said was likely a D&C, though I suppose it could just be a hysteroscopy, and I have no idea how long that puts one out of the TTC game.

I need to stay off the interwebz.  I've been reading about having it take 7 weeks to get AF again after a D&C.  I seriously cannot wait until March or April. I mean, my own RE was the one telling us we couldn't afford to even wait until February for treatment, you know?

  • Boo..that sucks. On a personal note we are gonna start TTC #2 in February so we can go through the agony together!!
  • I'm so sorry to hear that - darn doctors need to have more time in their schedules.  Will send T & Ps that he will not have to do a D & C.  Just take it one day at a time - between the holidays and the LO, the time will fly on by.

And yes, stay off of the Internet medical sites.  While I'm sure they do come in handy, they always make me panic more.  And the data is not always accurate.  Just stick with what your RE says.....

  • I am so sorry. That would be very frustrating.

I would find it hard not to remind him of what he said about not waiting, but that's just me.... and then I'd probably have to get a new RE.

Yeah, I kind of just reminded the nurse of that and probably shouldn't have if I want to keep them looking out for me :)

At least your clearing up potential issues, so when you do get your bfp you'll have a better chance of stickies!

  • Awww.  Hopefully you can turn off the medical websites and relax a bit in the next few days.  Remember 41 isn't that old for all this!  GL, good juju and I hope no surgery is needed.
  • Sorry to hear that. On the bright side, you will be trying again soon. I got preg. at 40 - not muchof a difference if you are 41.
