Does the standing in the crib eventually stop? Thomas has been waking around 4:30 and will stand in the crib waiting for me to come in. This boy is always doing something new...

Do you mean if they are standing will they eventually fall back asleep?
For Matt it depends on what caused him to wake up. If he cries it is over but if he just wants to take a look around sometimes he will fall back asleep if he doesn't hear us in the house.

If he's not crying do you go in the room and try to put him back to sleep or do you just leave him alone?

I just leave him alone if he is not crying. Since he now knows the words "Momma" and "Up" I will go in if he is talking. But he can be perfectly happy just hanging in his crib.
Does the standing in the crib eventually stop? No, M still stands in his crib. If you mean do they eventually put themselves back to sleep, yes. Thomas has been waking around 4:30 and will stand in the crib waiting for me to come in. This boy is always doing something new...
Simon went through a horrible phase of standing in his crib and screaming his head off. They think they can't get down from that position but all babies learn to lie back down. Thomas will figure it out.

A friend's baby caused a lot of sleepless night because of this. Ellie never had the problem, but will wake up standing in her crib. If she's not crying, we don't go in. If she is crying, we wait a few minutes to see if she goes back to sleep on her own, and then we literally sneak up and do a sniff test for a poopie diaper and based on the type of cry make a decision on whether to go in or give it a few more minutes. Most nights, we never have to leave the bed
