How much spitting up is normal?

DD never spit up. So this is all new. We are changing clothes, bibs, etc all day long. We burp him good, or I think we do. He spits up 2-3 times after each feed. I was thinking it's b/c he's more active & b/c he's eating more at each feeding.

Any tips?

Re: How much spitting up is normal?

  • We started having major spitting up at about 9 weeks. Our NP said anything over 2 tablespoons worth is excessive. They put DD on zantac but it turned out to be a mild dairy and egg allergy. Way less laundry now.

  • Our pedi used to tell us that anything more than a "handful" of spit up several times a day would be too much.

Try keeping your LO upright for 30 mins after each feeding.
