Withdrawl bleeding from BC?

When and if you had withdrawl bleeding from going off BC was it light spotting or heavy like AF? I have not had any withdrawl bleeding yet, but I'm having cramping and am a bit gassy and moddy like I'm going to start AF.

Re: Withdrawl bleeding from BC?

  • i took my last pill sept 5 right before i was due to start AF (showed up on schedule sept 12) 17 days later she came back on sept 29th. so not sure if this was withdrawl bleeding because ever since then i have been 28-30 days since sept 29th so if it was now my body is on that schedule

  • I stopped my BCPs at the end of the active pills, and promptly had bleeding 2 days later, but I'm assuming that was AF, not withdrawl bleeding. I did have cramps that I typically have right before AF. I had AF for 3 days like usual and since then have not had any bleeding and/or spotting.

  • I was on the depo, so I havent had my period since after having my son. I had a little break through bleeding in mid oct. But thats it. I guess I'm just curious if I should count it as CD1 or just withdrawl bleeding. I guess if I have a normal flow enough for a pad or tampon I will just count it as cd 1. If its spotting I won't. Oh the joys of trying to figure out what your body is doing after you go off BC.

This is what I would do, stay with our typical "rules" of charting.

  • im not sure i understand the difference really of withdrawal bleeding and AF coming off the pill. i thought any bleeding while on the pill, was not AF because you dont ovulate and while on the week long non hormone pills, its withdrawal bleeding.

i stopped my pill during my last week of active pills, got my AF or withdrawal bleeding whatever it was like normal a few days after i stopped. i stopped on mon and got AF on wednesday, (usually i stop it on snday and get it tuesday) i had heavier bleeding, required more tampons and it was a darker color then normal. i had cramps. like a normal AF and it lasted the normal 3 days. (typical period for me is 3 to 5 days)

so i counted that as CD1...i have had no other spotting or bleeding as of yet. i am now on CD 14

If its heavy enough for a pad like a normal AF, I would count it as CD1 (just incase, you don't want to miss out if it is) My first month off the pill I had my withdrawal bleed 4 days after stopping the pill (i stopped the pack 4 days into a new one) and it lasted about 4 days, bleeding like AF. I decided to start it as CD1 just incase. Good thing I did b/c I ended up ovulating from the withdrawal bleed, didnt get pg but got AF on CD29 and am now 28-29 days regular from that first withdrawal bleed :) AF comes like clock work so far...

question for you...did you ovulate on CD14 or round about after the withdrawal bleed or did you ovulate immmedialty after getting withdraw bleed? i always wonder if i ovulated during my withdraw bleed and therefore should expect my AF before the typical 28 days?
