I was 9 weeks yesterday and started bleeding the night before. Went to the dr yesterday and had an u/s. The sac was measuring 4 weeks and there was no sign of the baby. My dr is still checking my hcg level but my bleeding has gotten heavier so I'm positive I miscarried, as my dates are correct. Just wondering how long the bleeding will last and if I'll need a D&C?

Welcome to the board, though I'm so sorry you have to be here, and I am so very sorry for your loss. I miscarried naturally so I didn't need a D&C (although the ER doctor did remove some tissue herself to ease my cramping, so that may have sped the process along for me). I bled for 10 days total. Your doctor should talk to you about your options and whether she feels a D&C will be necessary in your case.

Im sorry for your loss. Both miscarriages that I have had happened naturally. Everyone is a little different, but for both of mine, the bleeding lasted about a week (about 9 days this time). Both times i was lucky not to have serious cramping or anthing. This time, the bleeding seemed to stop after about 4-5days, but then resumed at full force. It has been stopped for over a day now- hoping it does not resume. I go back Friday for a follow up where they will do an ultrasound to make sure everything progressed.

I know, it sucks waiting to see what happens and you are not sure of how long it will last and what you should expect. Good luck to you.

When you talk to your doctor again you'll have a better idea. My doctor said that I had a lot of tissue and going naturally or with the pill, would be difficult. Parts of my pregnancy were 6 weeks, parts 11. I don't really understand that part, but that's what he said. He recommended the d&c for me. I bled for a week before we were able to get in for a d&c and that was 8 days ago - still bleeding. One of the doctors told me that if you go naturally, you could bleed for a day or two (all comes out when you go to the bathroom) or it could be a a couple of weeks of bleeding. I had cramping this weekend, on the bad end of a regular period, but not like labor (or what I would imagine labor would feel like), and big clots came out. The doc that did the d&c said I could bleed for two days or two weeks after. I think it's tapering. Also, none of the doctors were particularly interested in the hcg levels, which I was kind of disappointed about. Take care of yourself and do what you feel comfortable with.
