Babies: 0 - 3 Months

sick of hearing "it gets better"

WHEN!??  WHEN PEOPLE, WHEN??

DD sleeps fine as long as she is being held. Night time is a terror and I dread it everyday!  She is sleeping in her car seat due to reflux issues, but will be up almost every hour crying (just to be held).  Meds have helped the reflux but she still just wants to be held and doesn't sleep well.  Well, she sleeps fine during the day in the Moby or my arms.

Re: sick of hearing "it gets better"

  • Didn't you ever hear this about babies before you decided to have one?
  • Loading the player...
  • The reflux generally starts to get better around 3-4 months...it will be a while.

  • Sorry to add to it, but, it does get better!  Just when it gets better varies for every baby.  When Bridget hit 2 months, a light switch flipped for her and she went from being a total night owl to STTN.  I used to dread going to bed too, because I knew I wasnt going to get to stay there long.  Hang in there!

    Wow! Uhhhh, no.

Funny, while I was sharing with my best friends my two year struggle with infertility and PCOS, not a single one said-- "well you better watch out because if your baby has AR and colic its a real biiiitch.  But, it gets better at an indefinite time."  Isn't that odd???

  • The bouncy seat worked better for Oliver's reflux then the car seat did. Good luck with everything. Oh and his reflux is already better so just hang in there!

Soooo, let me get this straight. You had to struggle for 2 years to get pregnant, and now after what, a rough month you are complaining? Do you realize what a silly little twat you look like?

Did you take fertility drugs or go in vitro? If so, you probably caused your baby's problems.

  • My DD had issues sleeping because of colic.  I finally gave in and slept with her on my chest.  Maybe you could sleep in a recliner with her?  I know its not the best for you, but at least you'd get some sleep.  DH and I took turns holding DD and would check on the other one to make sure DD was safe.

  • OP - is your LO on meds for reflux?  They can take 3 weeks to fully take effect.  Also, it gets much better at 4 months old - when your LO turns 4 months I highly suggest you pick up the Sleep Easy Solution book - it was a lifesaver for our family - our DD had reflux and colic and was a very difficult baby and bad sleeper.  I felt at wit's end just like you do - people who cannot understand that either have no empathy or have only had experience with very easy babies.  Sometimes it's hard.  Hang in there.

  • Check out the rock and play sleeper... its on an incline so really good for AR babies, also much more comfortable than a cat seat. Also swaddling works wonders... I know its hard not getting the sleep you need though: :hugs::

This. DS has reflux and is on meds for it and the Fisher Price Rock n Play sleeper has been a near miracle for us (and it is affordable and portable!). Just put a folded up receiving blanket under the liner where DD will put her head -- it's kind of hard. And the SwaddleMe is great, too. Really calms DS down and into sleepmode at night. He goes down around 8:30PM and sleeps until 3AM.

U must be a dr. to be givin info like that. Either that or a smartass. I'm going to vote for the 2nd.

Maybe you should talk to lissaue and get some perspective. I bet she would love to be up with a screaming baby at night.

Invest in a Rock n' Play stat! It saved my sanity.

yes yes! Lucas doesn't have reflux or colic, just absolutely hates sleeping flat on his back. That thing is a life saver.

  • Ditto to PP's about the Rock n'Play. The car seat can actually aggravate reflux, so you should only put your LO in it when they are in the car.

I understand that you're just a troll who likes to stir up drama and get a rise out of people.  I also know that responding to you just eggs you on further, which is what I'm doing right now, but honestly...don't you think there are some things you should just leave alone?  Spouting off all this "knowledge" on breast feeding studies, infertility, etc., is one thing.  Attacking a woman who has just suffered a devastating loss is another.  Even trolls like yourself need to know where to draw the line.

OP, I'm sorry you're having a tough time.  ((hugs))

  • I can't offer you any suggestions which you haven't gotten already. As a matter of fact, nothing works for Abigail...  I have started to wear her and this is easier for me to rest and/or get things done.  As for the meds, you should see a difference in the pain but know that the meds will not stop the actual reflux.  I think someone said to swaddle-that is a must for us.  We also do the 5 S's a lot!    It sucks, I live it.  But I take faith in what they say...it will get better!
