Stupid Heparin (whining inside)

So, I was going to make the switch from Lovenox to Heparin this morning.  I was on it for the first trimester, but those were prefilled syringes.  The stuff I have now needs to be drawn up and I couldn't get the darn thing to work.  I got about 3/4 of it in the syrine and had a pesky air bubble that wouldn't go away.  Good thing I had a few Lovenox injections left over.

    Yikes. I don't know that I'd ever be comfortable filling my own syringes.

    Are they having you do the Heparin twice a day?

    I know, I've sort of been putting it off since I still had some Lovenox left.  Yes, it's back to the twice a day.

    I'm gearing up for that switch in a couple weeks and not looking forward to it. I did it with DS, but I don't really remember anything about good technique! Anything you figure out will be helpful!

    I draw up my PIO. At first it was scary, but I am an old pro now. Draw up you cc amount. Remove from vial, draw back plunger so you have lots of room in syringe. Gently tap out any bubbles while there is extra room in syringe. Change needle, if you are supposed to, push back up and expel air. Hope that helps. Good luck.

    This. I'm dreading the switch too. I'm grateful I have a lot of support (step-MIL is a nurse and my sister was on Heparin during her first pregnancy.)

    I've heard rumors Heparin doesn't sting as bad a the Lovenox. I'm praying this is true.

    how annoying. I wish I had any info, but I'm clueless.

     

    m/c#1 07/16/08 (11 weeks), m/c#2 10/10/08 (8 weeks). and then nothing since except every test possible (no answers). IUI#1 and #2: BFNs Super lucky to be buddies with Peetie. Our out of nowhere, surprise DD born 5/29/2011

    The switch is horrible. You have ni skin left b/c everythingis so tight, and those needles to me, felt like shooting myself with a dull meat thermometer. ((hugs))
