My DS is about 8 weeks old and it seems like he is nursing for a shorter and shorter amount of time. It seems like he nurses from each side for about 5-7 minutes and that is it. He seems satisfied and seems to be gaining weight (I have not weighed him though since his month check up). He used to nurse 10-15 minutes each side. Do you think he is getting enough? Why isn't he nursing as long?
When I pump I get 2-4oz. from each side after about 10 minutes of pumping and this is after he nurses.
Is this normal?
Re: How long does your LO nurse?
sounds good. alex was a champ nurser & would get things done within 10 min when she was a baby.
brynn nurses longer now- 20 min or so, but she's more than done after that.

Are you sure that whole time is active nursing? My DD used to do the same thing until I learned the difference between active nursing and comfort sucking. We are down to about 20 minutes now.
You are probably just producing enough for LO to fill up more quickly now!
DS is the same. He used to nurse for at least 15-20 min at a time and now it is about 5-10 min (from one side or from each side). BUT he eats every 1-2 hours most days/nights.
He is in the 90th percentile of weight and height and gaining steadily, so I'm not worried he isn't getting enough! I've actually asked the doctor about it anyway, and she said that he must just be getting as much as he needs in that short amount of time.
