I'm down to the wire and I want to make that I have everything ready for LO. Now that your LO's are here, what are some baby items that are/were a MUST to get you through at least the first month? I plan to EBF, but will have bottles on hand just in case. Thanks!
 Â
Re: What baby items were a MUST?
Bottles on hand are a must. I attempted to breast feed with my first, and had a very hard time. Having bottles and formula in the house saved me (no flames, please).
Bouncy seat, tons of burp cloths, lots of one piece sleepers, pacifiers (even if you think you won't use them), noise machine, swaddle blankets, bath supplies. Also, go on and have things like bulb syringe, saline drops etc. One of my twins had a cold at  6 weeks (probably caught it from my 2 year old, but I was glad to have the items in the house).Â
a bunch of burp clothes, we just use cheap cloth diapers.
waterproof changing pad covers, DD likes to pee while I'm getting a new diaperÂ
The fisher price seahorse. She couldn't sleep without it.
Tons of footed pj's. I have so many fancy dresses and clothes for her, but she lives in footed pj's when we are home.
Â
agree 100% on the zippered pj's!
DD hated the swaddleme, she never really liked being swaddled though
Blankets, bottles, formula (I had to supplement for her first week because she was too small to skip any meals and she wouldn't latch til then when my milk came in), bassinet, car seat, waterproof changing pad, diapers, wipes, and footed pajamas. Everything else we either got at the hospital (like pacifier and nasal aspirator) or didn't use.
And an fyi, it is only a little hard to go shopping with a newborn baby if you really need something and if they stay covered they are fine. I say that from experience having to go to the store to buy clothes for DD since she was so small she didn't fit in any of the clothes we had for her.
ETA: burp clothes are also a must
def zippered pjs i just bought sleeper sacks they rock too and it huge now since baby is only 7lbs but its goo dtill 3 months so she will grow into it
and i use the boppi every day she sleeps in it feeds in it etc...
Boppy
Bouncer Seat
footed jammies with zippersÂ
swing
Aiden and Anis swaddling blankets
MAM pacifiers
Breast pump
Dr. Browns Bottles
I would also have a sample of formula on hand, just in case you have to supplementÂ
Burpcloths

A kiss he will never forget- Disney World 2014
Those Aiden and Anius swaddle blankets. I cannot believe how much I adore them.
Obviously you need a car seat, though I assume you have that taken care of.Â
I agree with the PP about the zipper footed pajamas. I also like the elastic bottomed gowns though they can be a pain to put over LO's head, especially in the beginning. With that said, I LOVE the side snap shirts for NBs and DS sleeps in those, swaddled. The gowns and the shirts make those middle of the night diaper changes painless.
I like the nose bulb the hospital gave us.Â
DS is a spit upper so burp cloths (those flat fold cloth diapers) are a must for us.Â
I think that is about it. Have a few brands of diapers on hand in case one doesn't fit well. DS peed out of several brands except the Pampers.
If you have a boy and you decide to circumcise him, you will need 4x4 gauze and lots of vaseline. The tubes of vaseline are easier to get onto the gauze than the tub of vaseline.
I also love these for myself for night time. So much easier to nurse in these than a t-shirt as that slides down and I can't see well around it. The Target tanks are nice too (with the hooks) but they can get kind of tight.
I have liked these bras the best. Very soft, very stretchy and very comfortable. Hate the 2 Gap nursing bras I bought.
Pads- once I got home from the hospital, my bleeding lessened a lot, so I used the StayFree ultra thin overnight pads with super absorb. They had wings. Get a pack of these and just see how your bleeding is once you are finished with them.Â
Stock up on witch hazel. Hopefully your hospital sends you home with the peri bottle, but I went through a lot of witch hazel due to my stitches so I probably had 6 or 7 bottles on top of the 2 I swiped from the hospital. I am on my last bottle and nearly a month PP.Â
Encourage people/family to bring you food. Because between nursing and taking care of LO, trust me, you will not even think of eating. I also went through water and apple juice like CRAZY. Nursing makes me SO thirsty.Â
Nipple cream. Take it to the hospital. The Medela glides on a little more smoothly for me than the Laninosh brand.Â
HTH!!! Good luck!

Oh yeah, the breast pump and the boppy were also musts. The boppy especially when they are going through the 3 week growth spurt. And if the boppy seems pricey you could also go for the cheaper priced leachco cuddle-u pillow.
I use the Boppy more than anything. My LO is sleeping on it on my lap as I type.
Bouncy Seat- some babies sleep better inclined early one. My LO slept in her bouncy seat (with me on the couch next to her) for 8 weeks.Â
footed fleece sleepers for winter-I bought a bunch of super cute dresses etc. They rarely get worn, especially now that it is cold outside.Â
Onesies with pants/leggings are great for daytime
Make sure you have 7-10 newborn sized items. My LO was 8 lbs 3 oz and wore newborn for 5 weeks.Â
A few packs of newborn size diapers (size 1 will be big on most newborns).
Aiden and Anais swaddling blankets- These are very large and the best swaddle blankets around especially as your baby gets bigger. I did not like the swaddle sacks that I had. They have velcro on them that sticks to everything and is super annoying.Â
If you sign up on the Similac website, they will probably send you 2 large cans of powdered formula. I breast feed but had some supply issues in the beginning and it was great to have this on hand. Also, if you ask the hospital for a few samples to take home with you, they will give you some, just in case you need it.
NUK pacis-My LO like the Soothies from the hospital but they always pop out of her mouth. The NUK are the only other ones she likes and they stay in much better.
Be patient and know that BFing can be hard. Even if you struggle in the beginning, don't give up. Use the BF board and all other resources to help you. It gets so much easier after the first 2 weeks.
Â
Most people have said things I would reccomend but also I would say have on hand
Smaller pads for when the bleeding goes down.
Gripe water
Mylocin drops
If you are EBF your baby will need a Vitamin D supplement startign at a month( since it is the only thing babies dont get from breast milk) I had a hard time finding this even tho everyone carried it. We had to go to 3 stores to find some so start looking for it now and just pick som eup while you are out. Enfamil makes it and it is in the vitamin section most of the time. You ONLY want Vitamin D notthing else and it comes by itself. Called D-VI SOL
The My Breast Friend pillow has been a lifesaver for me while BFing. Get tons of diapers. I thought we were pretty stocked up, but DS poops all. the. time. Have some freezer meals on hand, and something easy to eat w one hand, BF will make you hungry.Â
Â
I disagree about the zippered jammies only because my LO likes to kick/ stretch his legs out and and refuse to bend them making the diaper changes (especially in the middle of the night) take longer than doing the snaps! Plus we were using sleep sacks and it was just more convenient to unzip from the bottom leaving his top half nice and warm, instead of having to unzip from the top and getting his whole body cold.Â
Â
Have sleep sacks as well in case LO doesn't like being swaddled (mine HAD to have his arms free, and we gave up on swaddling his legs after about 2 weeks because it was pointless). Â
Â
Edit: Also, if it's a boy I do not recommend using the Huggies umbilical cord care diapers. My LO leaked out of every one that I put him in. Â
who told you this? i have NEVER heard this before and no one i know who EBFed has either.
Â
One thing I would recommend is not to go overboard on buying things that other people tell you are a "must". We would have saved hundreds of dollars if we'd done that.Â
We bought a lot of the swaddleme wraps, only to find out the girls preferred the blue and white striped blankets the hospital gave us. Â
I bought a whole bunch of BFing supplies, only to find out that I couldn't BF.Â
We bought several of the gown-style sleepers, only to have the girls outgrow them very very quickly. Â
The only things we used that we bought on the recommendation of others and actually used were the Boppies. They love those things.Â
So my recommendation is to either borrow the most popular items or buy them on sale. It can be difficult to return them to the store when you have an infant. If you find you need more, Amazon Mom is a great option because they deliver to your house in 2 business days. Â
Unable to even. Â

My Pediatrician. I thought they told everyone this? I am in a moms group and when I asked all them about it( since I hadent heard about it either) they all said they were told the same thing. We all use diffrent pedi too
