What to do for a friend?

Without going into great detail, my friend's baby was born and passed away in the same day.  He had a myriad of health issues that they found out while pregnant.  It's so very, very sad and I'd like to do something to help, but am not sure what. 

They live an hour away and are having a private service for him.  Other than a card, what would be appropriate?  I'm at a loss.

    Perhaps a donation to their children's hospital in her baby's name?

    Flowers are also probably a nice thought.

    What a horrible situation, I'm so sorry for your friend.

    First I am sorry to hear about your friend.  I was going to recommend the same thing as above.  There are some beautiful ones, both obvious ones and more hidden meaning types (like where a birthstone is hidden inside of a locket type thing).  They are gorgeous.  In fact I plan to buy one after my baby gets here that has birthstone for my 2 children plus the one I m/c.
