Anyone really test (and get a bfp) this far out from when af is supposed to show? I'm about 6 days away from when I *should* be testing, but those pregnancy test commercials with their "get results up to 7 days before your missed period," are sooo tempting tempting me to poas!
Re: ..."up to 7 days before your missed period..."
they are hoping it's tempting. So you'll test, it'll be too early and you'll need to test more. Keeps their product selling that way.
in all seriousness, it could only possibly work on someone with a LONG LP, and happen to have an early implanter.

First Response claims that 68% will get a BFP 6 days before AF is due (which means 32% will get a false negative). It says by 4 days before the results are nearly 100% (https://www.firstresponse.com/earlyResultInsert.asp#ReadingtheResult)
If you're pregnant, basically a 2 out 3 chance of knowing today would make me want to POAS. I got my BFP about 5 days before with both pregnancies

These statistics operate on the assumption that you have a 14 day LP. If you have a shorter LP (Like me, ~12 days), you'll probably never get a positive at 6 days before your missed period, even if you are pregnant.

I personally think those test instructions are flawed. Cycle lengths and ovulation dates really determine your test. Because Hcg levels really only matter based on when your ovulation date is. It doesn't matter if it's two days before your missed period. If you ovulated late and implanted late, you still wouldn't get a positive test yet.
Whereas if you ovulated really early in your cycle and implanted early, you'll get a positive earlier.
I tested positive at 8 dpo with this one, which in a normal 28 day cycle would be 8 or 9 days before a missed period. But in my case, my cycle is short and I ovulate early so i got a positive test sooner than the pregnancy test said it could read it.

With DD, I got a very faint BFP on an early pregnancy test strip 6 days before AF was due. I like that the tests were cheap, so I could test often and not feel too bad about it. (I got them at https://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/.)
