Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    K is 5 months and 2 days :)

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

He's teething like crazy, but haven't felt any pop through yet. :(

    (3) Next appointment date?

We have his 6 month shots coming up in January.

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Trying to keep him calm and happy while he's getting super frustrated at the lack of teeth.  Poor guy tries to shove everything into his mouth to ease his sore gums.

    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?

When I left the US for India, it was always assumed that I would be a SAHM once the time came.  I practiced with the furbabies when I first got here and didn't have a job and liked it.  I do miss the work environment (especially the friends I've made at work), but I don't miss having to get up early or the limited vacation timings.

    (6) What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc?

K loves a book called "On the Farm with Percy Pig"  I bought it at Marks & Spencer here in India :)  He giggles every time I say "percy pig" :)

    (7) What are you feeding LO (especially older babies)?

We EBF, but are planning to start him on solids in the next few weeks.  We'll be doing rice cereal once a day to start off with, then I'll be making most of his food on my own.

    (8) Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?

According to everyone that sees K, he's a mini-me.  I think the only thing he's gotten from MH are his ears (they're kinda big) and the size of his feet (also kinda big) :)

    (9) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?

What traditions would you like to pass on to your children?

What do you do to make traveling with children easier?

**a girl from Hawaii, living and driving in South India**

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 7.5 months

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? They've got serious pincer grasp skills going on now - I was surprised because it's a little early, but they seem to be a bit ahead on fine motor skills while major ones - like crawling - are a little behind. Go figure!

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? None

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? The boys have suddenly gotten all grabby with toys. The only good toy is the one that the other baby has. *sigh*

    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision? I went back to work. I was surprised that I wanted to SAHM - it was a lot more emotional than I expected. But I needed to return to work for financial reasons (not just income - also my retirement contributions, etc.) and ultimately I'm glad I did for personal fulfillment reasons.

    (6) What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc? They both like musical toys, and Will likes toys that move (e.g., a clear ball with a spinning thingy inside it) - Dash likes toys with interesting textures. They both LOVE books, but especially Dash - he'll start fussing and carrying on if he sees a book in the vicinity and he's not allowed to have it. Songs...anything, really - I'm don't really sing "baby" songs to them. Activities, they like their playmat, going on walks, the usual.

    (7) What are you feeding LO (especially older babies)? They have a pretty wide variety now. Right at this moment in our house, we have bananas, apples, mango and pears for fruit, and carrots, butternut squash, sweet potato, green beans, corn and zucchini for veggies. They also have ground beef and ground turkey, and plain organic whole fat yogurt. Oh, and wheat cereal. Their purees are slowly getting more chunky since they can handle texture now.

    (8) Mamas-to-be: What physical features do you hope your baby gets from you? How about from your husband? (Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?) Hmm. I don't know! I hoped they'd have Ben's black hair and green eyes but I'm not sure what I hoped they'd get from me. It looks like they got my dark brown hair, and the jury is still out on their eyes. The inside is a kind of dark green/brown (similar to my eyes but not the same) and the outer rim is a darkish blue gray. But really, they look just like little Ben clones. Stick out tongue

    (9) What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? Was there anything that you did "wrong" (i.e., against popular opinion) that worked for your family? Do you generally buy new or used clothes and toys for your LO?

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  23w1d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  Feeling good still.  I have major lower back though all.the.time.  I feel like an old lady when I walk because it hurts so bad.  I'm starting to be breathless more when I do tasks --- isn't it to early for this??? ;)

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  Just had my monthly appointment this past Friday and it was pretty routine.  No news is good news :)  I have to get my glucose screening by the end of the month though :(

    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision?  This was one of my questions, so I'm anxious to see how everyone responds.  I'm still on the fence with what I want to do, it's a much harder choice than I thought it was going to be.

    (8) Mamas-to-be: What physical features do you hope your baby gets from you? How about from your husband? (Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?)  I hope LO gets my olive skin, his Dad's eyes, dimples and care-free personality.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? almost 13 months

    (2) Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? he's getting much better at walking and keeping his balance, and he tries it more often.  He's also started to figure out how more things work - and what he's not supposed to be into is all he wants!  Oh and he's starting to try to dance when music comes on!  so cute!

    (3) Next appointment date?  15 month checkup

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  getting him to sleep at night.  I'm just giving him water in the bottle now at night b/c we brush teeth right before bath (we do teeth - bath - books/bottle - bed)

    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision? I knew being a SAHM wasn't something I wanted to do, but it wasn't even an option for us b/c I'm the only one who works and we need some income!  I also don't think I could have done it - esp in the beginning.  While I wasn't really wanting to come back to work, say, I was ready to be away from the baby more (sorry if that sounds horrible, but I just needed a break!).  I love him to pieces, but I wasn't cut out for taking care of an infant.  I'd probably be better at it now that he's a bit older, but MH is great with him and I'm glad that's our situation.

    (6) What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc? anything that rolls/moves.  he loves Brown Bear - and other sandra boynton books - wheels on the bus and hokey pokey are favorite songs b/c they have motion.  He loves TV theme songs - so really he loves lots of music.  He's even starting to dance!  We set up a ball pit/tent thing last night, but he just kept trying to climb up the side and knock it over, so it turned into a giant hamster wheel, so we had to pack that up and save it for later. LOL  When we're in the bathroom, he likes to pick up his toys and throw them in the bathtub, where of course he can't reach them.  He doesn't like walks much - he hates being confined in the stroller.  Lately his favorite "toy" is whatever we're doing - the remote, the phone, the computer, you get  the idea.  He did get these large Weebles for his birthday that he really loves, and he likes to flip through all his board books - it's so cute it looks like he's reading.

    (7) What are you feeding LO (especially older babies)?  He's on solids now - no more formula.  We usually have a banana and soy milk for breakfast, with some cereal (Kix, Cheerios, Raisin Bran) or puffs, and he eats raisins, grapes, cherry tomatoes, carrots, turkey, ham, beef, spagetti, chicken, chicken nuggets, green beans, peas, bread - he'll try pretty much anything we put in front of him.  Oh and desserts - he's all over them.

    (8) Mamas-to-be: What physical features do you hope your baby gets from you? How about from your husband? (Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?)  I secretly wanted him to get my blue eyes, and he did.  :)  People say he looks like a mini-me.  He looked a lot like my dad when he was born, which was rather disturbing when I was trying to BF!  I know my niece looked a lot more like my brother when she was born, but now (age 7) she's starting to look more like her mom, so I'm expecting him to change some and get more of MH's features in time.

  • 1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  6 Weeks 3 Days(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  I've been having crazy AF type cramps that have been keeping me up at night but other than that I've been feeling great.(3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?First appointment Next Wednesday.  Excited to hopefully hear a heartbeat! (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?  Trying not to worry so much.   (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision?I work part time from home now and will probably continue to do that.   I am excited to be able to be home with the LO. (8) Mamas-to-be: What physical features do you hope your baby gets from you? How about from your husband? (Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?)If its a girl, I hope she gets my coloring and small frame.  If its a boy I hope he gets my husbands height and frame.  Either way,  I hope he/she gets my husbands blue eyes.

  • imageMiniWheats:
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?   Trying not to worry so much.

    this doesn't get any easier!

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? Jack is 9.5 months
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? He took his first steps!!  He still has to pull up on something (i.e. his walker or the couch) but then will turn the other way and take a few steps (record is about 6) before falling down or reaching out for something else.
    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? I got nothing.  Can't wait for Christmas!
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? I thought something was going horribly wrong with my breastmilk supply.  But then (luckily?) I decided to take my manual pump w/ me to meetings last week since I was going to be at a federal building (and needed to go through security - didn't want to be lugging the PISA bag) and poof - supply was normal!!  GRRRR, it was my pump!  So I replaced all parts, worked with Medela over the phone to troubleshoot and they finally decided it was a pump issue so they sent a new one. Phew.
    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision? I really enjoy my job and line of work there was no question I wanted to go back and at 12 weeks I was ready.  I got a little sad about leaving LO (but for 2 months he was at home with a family member) but was excited to jump back into work, adult conversation, and ENJOYING and cherishing the time I do have with my little family.
    (6) What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc? any music.  He always crawls over to the CD player for me to turn on some tunes and really loves his leap frog music table.  He loves blocks (knocking them over), and push toys.  He enjoys books - both hearing us talk and also the novelty of turning pages. (7) What are you feeding LO (especially older babies)? Jack eats anything, we actually were just able to get him eligible to eat the food provided at school (after sending "real" food in for a whole week so they could watch him manage it) so that is great and he seems to LOVES it all.  Our favs at home are pasta either "mac and cheese" style (I make a cheese sauce) or with marinara (lesson learned - homemade tomato sauce is not cooked nearly as long as jarred which means there is more acid left in the tomatoes which could mean diaper rash - oops!).  Other favs: waffles, green beans, stew meat, ground turkey, stir fry, grilled cheese.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

    10 months 2.5 weeks

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

Libby's getting braver with her cruising and will let go for a few seconds and stand or take a few steps without holding onto anything. I bet she'll be walking on her own by her first birthday.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

One Year pedi appt. next month

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Wakefulness! She's up every hour or so from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.! ARG! I chalk it up to teething (again!) and the walking milestone.

    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision?

I never thought I'd want to be a SAHM, but after Libby was born that changed everything. Now I DREAM of being a SAHM, at least until elementary school starts. I'd love to find a way to make it work but right now I earn 75% of our family's income, so it's not possible (unless we win the lottery). Perhaps once DH is transitioned to his career we can look into it.

    (6) What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc?

Libby LOVES books! They are, by far, her favorite objects right now (besides a solar calculator we let her play with when she's on our laps and we're on the computer). She has a bunch of different board books that she "reads" herself...sitting on the floor flipping pages and babbling. We read to her several times throughout the day too and now she'll bring us a book and climb into our lap so we read it to her. Too cute! I just got 4 cute board books from the $1 Spot at Target and she's loving them! Other favorites are any touch and feel type books, plus "Whose Toes Are Those," "Global Babies," "Baby Dance," a trio of Rainbow Fish board books about Counting, Colors, and Opposites and "Kiss, Kiss" which she'll turn the pages and make a kissy face at the appropriate time in the book when you say "kiss, kiss!" Too cute!

She loves to swing...we have one hanging from the tree in our backyard and she also likes the bucket swings at the playground near our home. She loves being around other kids!

Other favs are her Baby Einstein piano and music player, Fisher Price Laugh and Learn House, shape sorter blocks and stacking cups as well as link rings with various toys attached to the ends.

She adores music...I've been singing to her since my BFP. She "sings" along...and likes to sit at our piano and play the keys. We have music on 24/7 (mainly classical and lately holiday tunes, but we do have a few Kindermusik CDs and every once in a while put on Top 40, Rock, etc.) and she loves to clap and rock back and forth to the beat of the music. Too cute!

    (7) What are you feeding LO (especially older babies)?

We introduced solids with Baby Led Weaning at 6 months and now that she's 10 months and has 5 teeth she pretty much eats whatever we're having (as long as it's age appropriate...i.e. no honey, etc.). She LOVES mushrooms, broccoli, cabbage, sweet potato, asparagus, spinach, carrot, green beans, and zucchini. Loves any kind of bread or pasta or cracker...carbs! Mashed potatoes, quinoa, rice, couscous. Eats bits of egg, chicken, pork and beef. Loves bananas, apples, prunes and pears. Pretty much loves everything we've given her! We just take things off our plate and give them to her and she goes to town. It's a bit messy at times, but so worth letting her explore food and eating on her own!

    (8) Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?

LO definitely has DH's ears, nose, hands and feet. I think she has my eyes and lips and chin. She has her daddy's backside! Tee hee! And complexion-wise she's closer to his skin tone than mine.

OMG board books are my savior! Whenever the boys (especially Dash) start fussing and I can't seem to snap them out of it, I hand them a book. It's like magic!

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?  19w7d

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling great. Lindsay--I'm getting more short of breath as well, and it doesn't take much exertion.

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  I have another OB appt and US in 4 weeks. I also have to turn in a 24 hour urine at that time. I'm not looking forward to doing that. The jug has to stay refrigerated for the 24 hours. Gross.

    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision?  I anticipate that it's going to be hard for me that first week back at work. But, it's not really a decision for me. I need to work for both financial and personal reasons.

ETA: I love my work and can't imagine giving up that part of me. My mom had a career, and I never felt it took anything away from her mothering. I always felt proud of her and how she managed to do it all.

    (8) Mamas-to-be: What physical features do you hope your baby gets from you? How about from your husband? (Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?)  I hope the little guy is a nice mix of both of us. I think he got his daddy's rather large ears. During the US, there was a shot of his face straight on where his ears were quite distinct. It made me laugh.

This!! And board books is what motivated LO to crawl in the first place...to get to a book!

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 6.75 months!
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?Tired (see #4).
    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?9 mo I think?
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?We just got back yesterday morning from our first flight with B. Had to wake up at 4:45am for a 8:20am flight...and then to work and we're all still super tired! I realized how much I took traveling w/o a baby for granted in the past!!!--like having to bring all this extra stuff, having to stand in line just to get a boarding verification document for him (we never check in luggage for domestic flights before and we always check-in online, so it's been a while since we stood in line at the ticket counter), not ergo-ing him through security so we won't get groped, taking ergo off for take-off/landing on the plane, not being able to sit in exit row. I never knew we had it so easy when traveling until now!
    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision?I had originally always thought I wanted to go back to work (I thought, I worked too hard to get where I am in my career!). But once the baby was here, I wanted to be a SAHM. I'm working less hours now, but I still wanna be a SAHM which surprises me in a way, but maybe not too much since I was raised by a SAHM. Originally, I had to work b/c we needed the $, now I'm more working towards a goal of getting a house for our (growing) family.
    (6) What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc?Toys: Sophie (the giraffe), Baby Einstein's Take-Along-Tunes
Books: Lift-the-Flap Bible, Squishy Turtle & Friends, The Very Hungry CaterpillarSongs: Anything we sing him, which is usually random family-friendly songs but not necessarily kids/baby lullabies/songs
Activities: he LOVES turning the pages in books, crawling on his hands and feet (instead of his knees), brings his legs around back and forth from crawling to sitting to crawling positions (looks like a break dance move in slo-mo =P), trying to stand up when I try to put him in sitting position, grabbing anything that is long/loopy like cords/handles/etc and putting everything in his mouth
    (7) What are you feeding LO (especially older babies)? So far, we've tried the following: rice, apples, squash, yams. He's tried carrots once and didn't like it. We haven't had solids in 3 days though due to traveling/not having enough room to bring feeding bibs/bowls/spoons/baby food.
    (8) Mamas-to-be: What physical features do you hope your baby gets from you? How about from your husband? (Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?)He has my eye/hair color, my eyebrows, and my cheeks. He has everything else from his daddy, including his long, super skinny legs. My close friends and relatives say he looks like an Asian version of MH.

    Toys: Sophie (the giraffe)

Ooooh yes! I forgot about Sophie - my boys LOVE her. Seriously PG ladies, put one on your registry right now, and if no one buys it for you, buy it yourself! I'm getting this as a shower gift for every mama-to-be I know from now on - it's THAT good.

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 4.5 months

Me.....I'm feeling slightly better this week than last.  This week's biggest depressing moment, though, is that I have my Winter Chorus concert tonight that I am directing.  I have a plethora of black dresses that I wear when conducting, so I never even gave what I'd wear a thought until last night when I went to pack my bag for today (I have school all day, then I'll change right before the concert).  Then I became really depressed when I realized that not a single one of my conducting dresses fits in the slightest!  I had to ask MH to go up to the attic where I had packed away all the maternity clothes (so I'd stop wearing them!) and get my out the maternity dress I wore to last year's concerts when I was pregnant.  It doesn't look too maternity ( hope!), and I'm just hoping no one notices it's what I wore last year!  I really need to get on this losing weight thing....I'm still 15 or so pounds over pre-pg (and that was 5-10 pounds over what I'd like). Embarrassed

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?  Ooooh!  I just remembered I need to make both H and I appointments for next month!  Thanks for the reminder!  Stick out tongue

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Sleep.  It's actually the same it always was (wakes once to feed around 11/midnight, then starts to fuss around 4 or 5 so he comes to bed with me then), but it's just starting to get to me now.  I guess I (foolishly?) thought he'd be sleeping straight through by now.  When will it get better?!?!  Crying

    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision? I really wanted to work.  I do (and did before, too) have fantasies about staying home, but I think it would ultimately be a bad idea for me.  I love my students and my job, and would miss it.  And while I think I might be able to handle (and even love) staying home for a few years, what happens when Henry's in school full-time?  I think it would be too hard to get back in the game then.

    (6) What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc?

Toys:  He loves his "Puppy" (an Angel Dear blankie that he's starting to take everywhere), and is also a big fan of Sophie, his Winkle (Manhattan Toys), and O-Ball Rattle. He also love his letter links that I bought to attach toys to his cars seat and such, but he loves them just alone, too.

Books:  He loves color books and he also likes the "That's Not My...." touch-and-feel books.  We have "That's Not My ...Monkey, ...Snowman, and ...Puppy."  We also donated the Dinosaur one to his school recently for their book fair.  He's getting pretty good at starting to turn the pages (with help) in his board books.

Activities:   We go to Kindermusik on Saturdays, which he loves.  He's starting to become ticklish, and giggles a ton when he have a tickle-fest.  He loves music in general, and we have "dance party" most every night....I play music (he loves the song "Dynamite") and we dance.  As always, he's a big fan of the activity gym, too, but we don't do that much at home anymore since I know he does that at school a lot.  I can't wait to give him his Jumperoo for Christmas....I'm hoping he loves it, since he loves to kick and bounce!  Oh, and (I hate to admit this because I fear it's too much like watching TV, which we don't want for him just yet), when he's being really fussy, he absolutely LOVES the visualizer on iTunes!  I discovered this by accident a few weeks ago when I was getting our "dance party" music ready.  He's fascinated by the firework-y lights and colors.

    (7) What are you feeding LO (especially older babies)? He's had brown rice cereal for two weeks now, and it's (mostly) going well.  I need to email his pedi this week (she wanted to know how it was going after two weeks) and she said if he's doing well, she'd give us her recommendations for starting veggies.  I know it's early, but I swear he's ready!  He even grabs for the spoon when he gets his cereal.  He has such a big appetite!

    (8) Mamas-to-be: What physical features do you hope your baby gets from you? How about from your husband? (Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?) We both have blue eyes, but I think Henry's are more like MH's (a darker blue....mine are really pale green-blue).  His hair color is exactly the same shade as mine.  His nose and mouth still look just baby-ish to us, so we can't figure that out just yet!

We just hope he gets MH's teeth (crooked until braces, but at least very healthy, whereas mine suck even though I brush/floss/rinse/go-to-the-dentist constantly), as well as my eyesight (20/13....significantly better than 20/20, whereas MH has glasses).  It'll probably be the opposite, though, with our luck!  Stick out tongue

This is exactly my thought and why I'm having such a hard time with this subject.  MH doesn't want me to go back to work, but this is my main reason why I do want to go back.

Lisa - a friend of mine sent us the Sophie right when I found out I was pregnant so it must be that good that she didn't even hesitate to buy this for me so early on Stick out tongue

Also consider the fact that I, for one, think that daycare is great for my son.  The center we're at has a reputation for being one of the best in the area (I heard a parent telling a story about how their first-grader started school this year and the teacher was so impressed with her reading level already at the beginning of the year.  When the parent told her which daycare she attended and went to kindergarten at, the teacher said, "oh, well that explains it!")  And Henry is so social already!  Yesterday he attending the dress rehearsal for my Winter Concert here at my school.  The other teachers were all commenting about the fact that Henry didn't seem to mind other adults holding him, and even smiled a lot at strangers.  I guess other mothers might see this differently, but I personally think this is a really good thing.  I want him to be social and comfortable in new settings.  He definitely still prefers mama or daddy (obviously) and smiles the most for us, but is great with others, too.  It's not like daycare is "raising" him (like the argument you hear all the time). He's still with us the majority of the day (and also Christmas break, summers, weekends, etc.), and we make all the decisions regarding his care, this is just his "school."

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?

4 weeks yesterday, 1 month tomorrow!  time flies...

    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?

eh, hanging in there.  we started trying to EBF on Friday, and i'm only pumping 3x/day now, when we give him a bottle, the rest is bf'ing.  also, i'm below my pre-pg weight now and can comfortably wear my "fat" jeans.  haven't tried on my "skinny" jeans yet (not actually skinny jeans - just the ones i'd wear on my skinny days!)

    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

    friday, for his 1 mo

    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

BF'ing, thrush, eating too much/vomiting (LO, not me, hah)

    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision?

we'll see.  MH and I have planned for me to be able to SAH if i choose to, but I don't know yet whether i'll want to.  I check work email occasionally on my phone, and I am SO glad i'm not having to deal with that stuff these days, heh.  at the same time, it's way too early to tell.  my plan is to go back FT in April for at least 6 months, see how it is, then decide.

    (6) What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc?

we're just starting to read to him, he doesn't care much about books or toys yet.  but he does love staring at the cute baby in the mirror Wink of his activity mat!

    (7) What are you feeding LO (especially older babies)?

    BM Smile

    (8) Mamas-to-be: What physical features do you hope your baby gets from you? How about from your husband? (Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?)

I was hoping he'd have my eyes, my nose, and my build, but I think he's a mini-me of MH.  We'll see about the build part, but everything else is exactly like him - ears, eyes, shape of his face, cheeks, hair ...hard to tell about the nose and the mouth right now though.

Oh I forgot about teeth! I'm praying hard that the boys have my teeth - they're naturally straight, I don't get many cavities, etc. Ben, on the other hand, had to wear the whole braces with headgear thing as a kid and has fillings in nearly every tooth. Sad

  • (1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?she just turned 13 months! where does the time go?
    (2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?i'm doing good.  extremely emotional the last few days so i am not sure if it is just PMS (today is cycle day 39) or if i might be PG?? Surprise i started working at a new place recently so i hope that my body is just starting to cycle w/all the women there... for "milestones" she has started to put objects inside containers w/o being prompted to do so... she can also point to my ears (she likes to tug on them!) and nose when i ask her where they are...and she can point to her toes too :) we're working on mouth, shoulders and knees so we can do the "head shoulders knees and toes" song :)
    (3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?2 more months for more shots
    (4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?nothing really challenging, though it seems like her sleeping schedule is shifting yet again!
    (5) How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work?  If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision?well we don't have a choice financially speaking but i would love to be a SAHM if possible.  i really thought i'd always work (i spent sooooooooo many years in school!) but now that she is here i would so much rather be spending the time w/her.  once DH is done w/his training and making more money she will be starting school anyway and  i think once she is in school i would like to work part time since she'd be gone half days but that is still several years off
    (6) What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc?favorite toys - definitely blocks hands down! she's taken quite a bit to mirrors lately too :) she loves all her toys but she gravitates to the blocks every time
favorite books - Violet's house (from baby einstein), Hand hand fingers thumb (dr seuss), 12 cats for Christmas, No no yes yes, yummy yucky, I'll see you in the morning favorite songs - "if you're happy and you know it," "wheels on the bus," "head shoulders knees and toes," "barbara ann" (beach boys), "dancing queen" (abba)
    (7) What are you feeding LO (especially older babies)?she eats everything these days!some of her favorite foods.... bananas, avocado, cheese, yogurt, green beans, cabbage, salmon, black beans
    (8) Mamas-to-be: What physical features do you hope your baby gets from you? How about from your husband? (Mamas - what features do you think your baby got from you/your husband?)the shape of her eyes are like mine but she has the double eyelids like DH and the longest lashes like him too! i think she has my lips, not sure about her nose. her hair is a lighter brown than either of ours, which we think is interesting.  overall she looks more like DH than me, i think
