2nd Trimester

But I don't want to take it off!!!

Crying  I love my wedding ring and now my fingers are getting chunky.  I haven't really gained all that much and it's not swelling but my fingers just are being squeezed by my wedding band.  It sucks.  This happened while pregnant with DS as well (can't recall exactly when though) and I couldn't fit back in it for a few weeks after birth.  I have to use a silver $10 band I think I got from Kohls years ago as my "wedding ring" now---or maybe I should buy some bling for a quarter from the gumball machines!!!!  HAAHAHA!!!

But I guess the alternative is them cutting it off--and that wouldn't be nice so I guess it's bye bye to the ring for now =(   (tears)

Re: But I don't want to take it off!!!

  • mine have been tight too.  I'm trying to tell myself it's from the salty food I've been eating but I think it might be time to put htem away until next July-ish.

This also happened when pg with my DS but I think it happened earlier.  I gained a crud-load of weight in the beginning with DS.

  • I love my e-ring and wedding band and was so sad to have to retire it because my fingers are getting big. I went on overstock and found some nice fake rings that I will be wearing in the mean time.

  • Mine still fits for now ( and I am hoping it will continue to fit), but if it stops fitting DH and I both got tattoo rings about a year ago. He had lost his original wedding ring because he can't wear it at work for safety reasons and so he would put it on his key chain and it fell off. We got him a replacement but then we both went out and got them tattooed on so that when we can't be wearing them, we still have our tattoo ones.

  • Mine fit all of my last pregnancy, so I am hoping that will happen again.  If it doesn't though and they get tight, I plan to just take them and have them resized for the time being!  I would be so sad not to wear them!
  • I was 30lbs heavier when I got married so they've been a little loose since I lost the weight. I'm thinking pregnancy is only going to help mine fit better.
  • I had to have mine cut off a few months after DD was born.  (Poor DH, he was the paramedic that had to do it!!)  As soon as we got the BFP, I put them in the safe.  I was saddest about having to take off my mother's ring that I got for my first mother's day.
  • it's funny a few of you mentioned "fake" rings. A friend of mine just had a baby and about 3-4 months ago her rings stopped fitting. She took them off, but said she felt like she got looks, like people were judging her for being an unwed pregnant girl!  She ended up wearing a plain silver band with another ring with a diamond on it. She said it actually helped.  Do people really do this?  In 2010?  There are a lot of unwed parents out there...

My rings still fit, but I really don't want to get fake ones if they get too tight.

Yep, people still judge. I get pity looks when I got out do eat with just my Son. It's odd because you'd think people wouldn't care at this point. I've never been one to stay home though , when I was single I would go to movies, dinner etc by myself. I lived halfway around the world from home and certainly wasn't going to wait for anyone to come with me. I got the strangest looks when a waiter would ask "are you waiting for someone" and i'd say "no, it's just me". You'd think people never go out alone or something or never have babies while not married.

I feel the same way and dread having to take mine off.  It is sad, but I think people do still look at you differently.

  • I had to take mine off a few weeks ago. I wear it around my neck on a sturdy chain so i am technically still wearing it.

  • I'm not looking forward to taking my ring off either but when the day comes I'm going to one of those girly shops like Claires' and buying myself a nice little cubic zirconium!

  • Despite the sh*t ton of weight I've gained, I can at least still wear my wedding and engagement rings! *lol* I guess it's good that the pounds are on my thighs and not my fingers?! :)

ETA: I was able to wear both rings my entire pregnancy with DS...I had them on at the hospital and everything. I never had an issue getting them on and off.

That's exactly what I have done.
