We limit our processed grain and white rice intake and instead consume whole or multigrains. I would love to start DD on the same track from the beginning. Has anyone tried this instead of white rice cereal?
Where do you get it? Do you make it yourself? If so, how?
I imagine it's not nearly as widely available in stores (if at all) as rice cereal or oatmeal. Any info, websites etc. would be appreciated.
TIA
Re: Starting on lentils (or other grains) instead of rice cereal?
We started with organic brown rice cereal as well, we buy the HappyBellies brand. I've found this brand at natural food stores and also at Target. If you are interested in making your own, you can check out www.wholesomebabyfood.com. Also the book Super Baby Food has a lot of good information as well as recipes for making your own baby food.

Both of these are great resources for making your own food. For DS I would buy brown rice from the bulk section at whole foods and make rice cereal with that. I moved pretty quickly to a multigrain cereal from the Superbaby foods book that had oatmeal, rice, barley etc. I might start with oatmeal instead of rice this time around.
Hi!
Good luck with starting solids! IMO starting with avos, bananas, or applesauce is easy and fun. Grains are a sensitivity in my family so we will steer clear of those for a while.
