We are doing a white elephant gift exchange at work--the kind where you bring one really bad gift. I hate my job, and with a few exceptions, I don't like many of the people I work with (usually I'm not quite this negative, but it is really bad here).
In that spirit, I would like to take this opportunity to bring a REALLY awesomely bad gift to the gift exchange...as long as it is not gross and legal. I'm not sure if it is PG brain or what, but I can't think of anything good. Suggestions? Thanks! ![]()
Re: NBR: Need a terrible gift idea
Some that I've seen before:
Used/melted candles.
A Shake Weight. https://www.shakeweight.com/flare/next
A horrible Christmas sweater.
A case of seltzer water.
A neti pot.
I once took a dozen feeder goldfish (the ones that cost like 10 cents) to a dirt santa party. Luckily there was actually someone there who had been wanting fish.
I like the suggestions that the previous poster have.
My FIL likes to give a case of Spam for this kind of stuff. We bought a book on eBay last night - "The Novelization of Charles in Charge" for a similar type gift.
I personally like super random books for this occasion. I saw this over the weekend when looking up random books and considered this until we saw the Charles in Charge one!

Great idea!! They also sell them in stores. I have seen them in Bed Bath and Beyond, and Harmon.
A few years ago, DH gave the Clay Aiken Christmas album. That got passed around a lot.
This is a fun one https://www.amazon.com/Unknown-BT27973-Toilet-Mug/dp/B002SQG4TU/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1292262492&sr=8-9
But I guess it depends on your definition of "gross." If you type in "funny gifts" on Amazon, you might come up with a lot of ideas.
I'm getting the shake weight for my white elephant gift this year. DH got a nerf gun. We like to get silly things that people might actually want, but never would waste money on. Last year, I got a Family Guy mug from Spencer gifts.
If you want something truely "bad" I agree with a Clay Aiken CD, or useless book. Or something cheesy like a really 80's Jane Fonda or Richard Simmons workout DVD.

Check out this site - tons of gag gifts:

Ok, I think any type of paste or ointment is awful and will get some good laughs.
Second, apparently there is a book called how they died and where they are buried which is a running joke in a circle of friends.
I once received a grocery store bag FULL of dryer lint as a white elephant gift.
The random "impulse buy" type gifts at the front of book stores are another way to go.. I always see the most random crap there and think "who would buy this for someone they like?" but then there you go, sometimes we buy gifts for people we don't like...
