2nd Trimester

Plauged by Headaches?

Anyone else plagued by headaches?  I've been getting daily headaches since I hit puberty, but now I am finding it absolutely unbearable.  The doc prescribed me some meds, but they are mostly for nausea and don't treat the headache, so it's still agony. I have another dr appt today so hopefully I'll get some releif.

Anyone else experiencing excruciating migraines/headaches and what are you doing to cope with them?

Re: Plauged by Headaches?

  • I've been getting headaches for the past two weeks now. Normally they aren't too bad and I don't even have to take anything. This morning however, I woke up at 4 am with a pounding headache so bad that I cried for half an hour!! I took three tylenol and finally fell back asleep and it was nearly gone when I woke up for work.

  • I feel your pain, literally. I started having migraines when I was 13 nothing has ever given me relief.  Since I have been pregnant the headaches and migraines have been more frequent.  I find that if I do not have caffiene they are unbearable, the pain is so bad that I vomit.  Sometimes I find that if I have a small cup of coca cola and tylenol, in addition to my caffinated cup of coffee the headaches go away.  Good luck!

  • I feel you... I never had headaches until this pregnancy, but man were they awful... I had them pretty much from day 1 until about 2 weeks ago... I am praying that they don't come back... They would last the entire day and literally be de-habilitating sometimes... I didn't think I should be driving half the time.  I am so happy they are gone and hope that yours get better soon... I was about at my breaking point when mine stopped. But, it does get better!

  • I've been getting bad headaches as well.  My Dr. prescribed me Fioricet, which is acetaminophen, butalbital (barbiturate) and caffeine.  I am not so sure the pills are helping me that much because I take them as soon as I feel a headache coming on, as the instructions say to do, and they hardly ever help.  But I have also been seeing a chiropractor recommended by my midwife and I get almost instant relief from that.  I as a skeptic, but I really and truly think the chiropractor is helping my headaches more than anything.  I also found that if I drink something with caffeine in the morning that I get less headaches.

  • YES!!!   They suck.  I don't recall getting headaches like this with DS.  But what I do is take one tylenol and a little coke (with caffeine in it) and usually it'll shut it down....until the next day or whatever LOL.  I try not to take any tylenol, but sometimes it's just unbearable.

I'd be very interested in trying a chiropractor!  Thanks for suggesting it, I previously hadn't thought of that. I used to go when I was a kid but I honestly can't remember why or if it helped Confused  I do have this weird bump in my neck - it sort of feels like a vertebrae is out of place or something - so it could be well worth it.  Now to see if they are covered by my health insurance...

And yes, thank you for reminding me, ladies, that caffeine helps!  I love coffee, tea, and soda, but have been seriously cutting back due to baby.  I'll have to pick up some coke or something on my way back from the doctor.  Hopefully he will be able to give me something better than my primary care doc did!

  • I've always suffered from headaches, and the past 3 weeks, my headaches sound so similar to yours. I would literally throw up over them.

They have slowly started to cut down during the days... I agree with PP. I usually try a Tylenol with a little bit of Coca Cola. Or a little bit of coffee works in the morning.

    Good Luck!!!
