I know there had a been a discussion about Christmas things to do with the family. If I remember correctly there was some talk about the drive through Christmas light stuff and someone (ali, I think) mentioned Nature in Lights at Belton Lake. Well, I went with my parents and DD this weekend. We went Saturday evening. We got stuck in a huge line of traffic starting at 7pm. We finally exited the light display at 10pm.
Yes, we were in our car for three hours. It took one hour to get in to the park to start the light show and two hours to drive through it. I don't know if it would make a difference to go another night, instead of Saturday. Perhaps getting there a bit earlier might help. I'm not positive, The lights themselves were nice enough and DD enjoyed them for awhile but three hours was just too much. My mom fell asleep and the lights started giving my poor dad a headache, It was like being in Chevy Chase movie. You would think it was finally over and then there were more lights. If you ask my daughter if she wants to go see more drive through Christmas lights, she says, "Not today. I saw too many the other day!"
Anyway, I just thought I would throw that out there. The lights are decent but be prepared for a long drive. Take dinner, drinks, a potty...

Ha! 3 hours? That's insane!
I've wanted to go every year but DH usually refuses, saying why should we wait in traffic to see lights? I'm insisting though and we're going this year. We'll go one night this week before the kids are out for holiday break. I really hope it doesn't take 3 hours!
Did you go to the Santa's workshop thing at the end?
Are you kidding me??? After three hours in the car, I might have strangled Santa. It was 10pm before we finally got to the glorious exit. I just wanted to pee and have dinner.
I never thought about it taking that long. If I go again, I will definitely try a week night instead and start earlier.
