New to The Bump

Antsy newbie!

I'm Rose!  Just joined about 10 minutes ago, wanted to say hi to everyone.  Smile I'm pretty stoked about starting this journey towards (hopefully!) parenthood.  The layout of the boards is kinda confusing me, I have a tiny brain, and it's LATE!  The title of this board was easy for my mind to grasp.  Cool  I'll do more exploring tomorrow!

There's really nothing interesting about me.  21, hitched since '08, DH and I are financially secure, emotionally stable & slightly loony.  I love making messes in the kitchen, learning Russian, and oh so many other things... when you've had a rough past, you either become optimistic and resilient, or you grow bitter and full of regret.  I choose happy.

I'm very random, btw.  If I seem to ramble, I'm sorry... my thoughts don't assimilate very well outside of my head.

The last year has been pretty chill.  I had my last Depo shot in December '09.  Before Depo, I was pretty regular.  28-30 days.  5 days long.  So after March, we waited in anticipation... but there was absolutely no sign of AF until mid-autumn.  I had a two very light periods about two weeks apart, then a heavier one in October that lasted a couple days.

Around November 9-13 (I know, I didn't keep track of when it started... it was a crazy week... BAD), AF hit with a vengeance.  I was curled up in bed for a day or so, vividly remembering the reason I chose Depo for b/c in the first place.. no AF.  At the same time, I was a little excited that my body was finally resuming normal functions.

Craziness commenced once again after that week, and we only had sex on the 21st, 26th, and 2d (stupidly enough, we had more time on our hands AFTER I potentially ovulated..).

AF hasn't shown up yet, it's the 12th, I'm crossing all fingers.  Trying not to get my hopes up too high, I've heard of Depo really screwing up ladies' cycles for months and years after...

Anywho, now that I've written that novel...

Tell me all about yourselves!  Any advice or input?  Encouragement??  I'd like to make some new friends, TTC buddies, whatev!

Re: Antsy newbie!

  • Hello and welcome! Yes, there are tons and tons of boards - pretty much someplace for everyone. I would recommend Trying to get pregnant. There is a link at the top of the board with information for new-comers. It has a lot of good information, and most other questions you have can be answered by lurking.

Are you charting? A lot of us are using Fertility Friend to chart our temperatures and have a better understanding of our cycles and ovulation. You can get there through most of our tickers or signatures.

    Have fun and Good Luck!

  • Welcome, Rose!  As a fellow newbie, I highly recommend lurking as much as possible on the TTGP board and checking out the newbie link at the top of that board.  Also, there is a great glossary at the bottom left (Bump Board Glossary) to help you translate what everyone is saying.

I'm 33, recently married, and on my first cycle of TTC.  I was on BC (pill) for about 15 years, the last 6 years more or less continuously (only 2-3 periods per year).  I have no idea what my periods were like before BC, just that I had horrendous cramps and mood swings.

I keep track of my periods and CM on FertilityFriend.com, but I don't chart my temps or use OPKs like many others who post on the TTGP board.  I've noticed that most of us non-charters stay fairly quiet, though we are out there.

    Good luck to you!

  • Hi, I just started on here too and I'm sort of confused by it all too, but I love it! There is just so much to read and see. I would love new friends on here too. Here is my story...

I'm 23 and have been married to the most wonderful man in the world for 2 years. I got off the pill in February and so far nothing has happened. I'm Insulin Resistant and my dr. says that I need to get that taken care of before I'll get pregnant. But I'm not very good that so I'm just hoping I get pregnant while I try:) I don't even know how to chart and do all those other things everyone talks about on here but its great fun to read all the ideas and pointers.

Good luck to you and I look forward to hearing more of your story.
