Expecting moms- my must have item

The Total Baby app fis my absolute must have. (The itzbeen timer would do the same for those without smart phones.) I thought my sister was ridiculous to take the time for this app with her LO. The app reminds me which side I nursed on las because I can't tell. Makes it so easy to see the wet diapers pattern so I know when there's a wet diaper without checking or him crying. I know when to expect him up in any minute. Most useful I can't tell how if it's been enough time that he's likely full during a feeding withoutthe timer (maybe te itzbeen doesn't do that). I'm sleep deprived and it feels like I changed and fed him a minute ago so I suppose the app is my reality check until things settle.

Re: Expecting moms- my must have item

  • Thanks forthr post. I bought the iztbeen but was thinking there must be an app that does the same thing for way less. This app is $4.99 the iztbeen was $24.99. So it's going back and you saved me $20!!!

  • Oh and I should have learned how to stop a baby's crying from The Happiest Baby on the Block before the baby. I thought it was all hype but had DH look for the video after two days at home because I hate seeing LO cry and it would also make latching difficult. We only do two of the five things- turn him to his side and jiggle as described and magically he's calmed. **If saving money is holding you back, DH found video of the technique in a couple of minutes by googling. I would think you could see parents showing how it works on YouTube but haven't checked.

I have found those to be the best go-to options for us as well. She doesn't always want a paci or to suck, so that's out, and she hates having both arms swaddled. She likes being bundled in a blanket or two and kept warm more than being swaddled. The side positioning, jiggling and shushing help the most for us.

  • I have this too.  Only problem is that I'm still bad about setting the stupid BF timer.  I mean, it couldn't be any simpler, I'm just so forgetful right now.  I do like that it tracks all the wets and dirties for the whole day so at the end of the day I can check and make sure that she's had enough.

  • This is probably a stupid question, but can you use the apps on your computer?  I am one of the ones still in the stone age without a smartphone.

  • What about a similar ap for a droid?  I'm going to try Baby Care, which is free, and see how that goes?  Any other suggestions for the droids?

You can't. unless for some strange reason you nurse, change diapers, etc with your laptop right next to you. it's annoying enough to cart my phone around although worth it. (I usually stick it in the pocket of mybrestfriend.) my sister bought an itouch to do it and thought it was worth it. I don't think I would buy an expensive device just for it though. Her baby is still six months and she finds the tracking is still useful.
