I have been spotting my entire pregnancy. (This is my first pregnancy) Hence I have been on pelvic rest since the doc confirmed my pregnancy at 7 weeks. This morning I got up from the couch and felt a gush and looked down and saw I was bleeding. I called my doc who sent me to the ER for a sono.
They said everything looked fine and "it looks like a healthy viable pregnancy". I asked why was I bleeding then and the ER doc could give me no answers. They said they could not see where the bleeding was coming from.
My doc said to come in as scheduled for my appt next week. At this point I am quite frustrated b/c I keep having spotting and then now bleeding and no one can tell me why. I want answers and the only thing my doc said to me at my last appt 3 wks ago was "well 30% of pregnant women have spotting that occurs for unknown reasons".
I personally don't find these to be acceptable answers. Do you all agree or disagree. Does anyone have any advice?
Re: Bleeding & Spotting (maybe TMI)...advice please
Oh god.. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I can only imagine your frustration with having no answers. It's probably very scary!
It is true, unfortunately, that so many women have unexplained bleeding during pregnancy - could be so many things - most of which are nothing to be too concerned about. Try to take heart in the fact that your LO seems to be safe and sound.
I really hope you find answers. And if you don't (and you may not), I really hope you can find peace.
This.
I have had cervical dysplasia in the past and two different procedures in the Colposcopy unit at the hospital, one LEEP and one whose name I forget.
During first trimester I had quite a bit of spotting - the doctor said in my case it was related to my cervical issues - when he did the pap, the swab had blood on it. He said that sometimes the endometrial lining will end up on the OUTSIDE of the uterus (ie. the cervix) and that was what was bleeding. He told me to expect it throughout my pregnancy.
I assume the doctors you've seen would've checked for this for you though, so unfortunately, I'd go with the less than satisfying results your doctor told you. Good luck, I hope it stops - I know how scary it is - even though every day I'm prepared to see it, it still freaks me out to see it.
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I had a weekend of bleeding several weeks back as well, and I was petrified I was losing the baby. It ended up that I have fibroids I never knew about before, and the doctor thinks my expanding uterus is irritating them. Nothing that will harm the baby, but still scared the daylights out of me.
Try to relax and rest with your feet up. Let YH wait on you and just take it easy. Good luck, mama.
