  • Yes, and they have since about 1.

  • When he goes to the Dr. they give him a sucker, but that is it. He has had other junk like cookies, cake, and ice cream, so he gets other sweets sometimes.

I wasnt going to but with my mom and grandmother there is no stopping it.  I would have to keep them from visiting in order for them not to have candy.  They ALWAYS give them too much candy and junk food.  (and dont see anything wrong with it)  Now the first thing they say or look for when they get to their house is "candy, candy, candy" and they cant figure out why!  Ughh!

We do give them a little candy.  L is 3.5yrs and the girls are 2.5yrs.

  • He was 21 months at Xmas two years ago and I had those mint nougat candies.  He really wanted one so I let him have a little.  he LOVED IT and it took him over a solid year, and he still sometimes slips up, thinking "mint" is the generic word "candy".

My 19 month old has not had candy.  Well, I take that back, she just had an Andes mint from the Olive Garden.

But they have cookies or ice cream.  Just not straight up candy very often.

  • Yep. A Dum Dum works wonders in getting him to behave at my OB appointments.

He also gets cookies, cake and ice cream in moderation. I don't want one of those kids who never gets it, and then binges when they have a chance.

  • Well if I didn't have a MIL like I do, she wouldn't have it.  But then again, my mother does the same thing.  They think cuz they're "Grandma" they can give my DD anything, including candy.   Why do we have to have MIL's????
  • yes. She'll get candy from time to time and suckers. A few m&m's during the week.

  • DD didn't have much before she turned 2.  I think last Halloween she had a small bag of M&Ms and had a few jelly beans at Easter.  I'm more lenient now because I know she eats pretty well, and I don't feel like a small treat is that bad.  Does ice cream count?  She had ice cream a couple times before two also.

  • Yes, my DD has had suckers and mnms. I've given her a bite of my chocolate bars before. I'd say she probably had her first mnm around 18 months or so. Just in the past couple of months was when she got her first dum dum at the bank.
  • i haven't given ds candy yet (2 yo) but he does get ice-cream and cake or other dessert items on special occasions.  he had first ice-cream and cake at his 1st bday and since then he gets these types of treats on holidays or family bday parties etc.  ice-cream was a fun outing over the summer.
  • My DD loves M&Ms - seriously lives for them. She eats really well so I don't mind her having a handful as dessert. Everything in moderation.
  • Yep. I can't eat candy and then not give her any. As long as she eats well balanced meals then I don't care about candy.
