I want to register for this because of the reviews, but I thought that babies were not supposed to have anything in the crib? First time mom here...thanks!
At a young age your baby will be swaddled and won't be able to roll over anyway (aka will stay were they are put), so putting this in their crib to soothe him/her shouldn't be a danger.
DD has that in pink. I didn't put it in the crib until she was a little younger than a year old. Her crib is against a wall in her room so I wedged the body of it in between the crib and the wall, that way she could see it and hear it but it wasn't in there with her. I also didn't put her in her crib until 6 months though, I did sit it in her infant swing with her but I laid it by her feet, I was super neurotic about her having anything in bed with her, it just made me nervous. She sleeps fine with it now of course, and I can hear it go off in the middle of the night over the monitor, so she must be rolling on it lol. I do love it because it plays music for so long, it really helped soothe her when we were transitioning her to her own room and getting her to start STTN.
We have that and it is fine. It is actually pretty heavy so it's not something a tiny baby can cover their face with. I also highly recommended this it is what people call the baby crack machine. We've used it since birth and it is awesome. I started with the heartbeat setting and now we use the rain or ocean. It is also great for traveling and blocking out household noises while the baby sleeps.

It attaches to the side of the crib, so it becomes less of a safety risk.
That's the one I registered for, I liked that the way it attached.
Plus DH was mesmerized by the store sample for a good minute and a half, so I have faith in its attention-grabbing properties (he was in overload at that point, poor guy).
I had nothing in crib till DD wanted to sleep with her blanket which was at 10 months. I would get so freaked out by it. But she wouldn't stay asleep unless she had it in there with her.

Ditto the baby crack machine...love it (we have one in our room now to help us sleep).
We are pregnant with baby #2 and we didn't put anything at all in our son's crib until he was two. You NEVER know when a baby will roll over, even if swaddled (stranger things have happened) and I didn't want anything to worry. We are definitely going to go with the same approach for baby #2.
Re: Nothing in crib?
I used the fisher price ocean wonders aquarium with my kids and they really loved it. https://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=2685922
