My DH proposed on Christmas Eve one year in front of our Christmas tree at home. It was perfect. Just the two of us.However, we were with my family later that night, so were able to share the news shortly after!
My parents live on a hobby farm and we were there visitng and DH and I were walking around near the horse pastures. He stopped and gave me a kiss and then when I opened my eyes he was on one knee and had the most beautiful ring and asked me to marry him

DH proposed during an Easter Egg Hunt at his parents house. I had to collect all the purple eggs. When everyone finished and we all started opening eggs, I happen to have a very special gift in one of mine!! It was super sweet
My now husband and I talked about getting married for a few weeks before the proposal. We went ring shopping one day and I tried on lots of rings, and I fell in love with a few, but he didn't buy any. Well we went back to his apartment and he told me that he would rather be shot in the head then do anymore ring shopping, and he bought me a ring already, then he popped the question. With a romantic build up like that I had to say yes.
We were on vacation in Myrtle Beach and he asked me to come and watch the sunset with him on the beach. We were walking on the beach and he stop and said he wanted to talk (all day he was acting werid and not talking to me) so he said that he had been thinking all day and he was afraid my answer was going to be no, at that point he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I pushed him down in the sand and called him a dork ( i thought he was going to break up with me since he had been ignoring me the entire day) I helped him get up and said i was sorry for pushing him down, he asked me again to marry him and i said yes.
Last fall, we were faced with three choices: 1) I had to go without health insurance, 2) he had to turn down the job he wanted because the employer didn't offer domestic partner benefits or 3) we had to get married. We looked at each other, shrugged and said "Well, I guess we're getting married." A week later we were married.
It was New Years Eve and my H made me go for a walk with him around the loop of our City Beach. I was being a pill because it was cold outside and we got about half way around the loop when I finally said why are we out here. He then pulled a box out of his cargo pocket (my H used to only wear pants with cargo pockets, but I have broken him of that horrible habit and he now wears jeans) and said, "Because I am asking you to marry me." I freaked out, I was so suprised and excited.
While watching the sunset, in a vineyard, in Sienna Italy. Most romantic thing he has ever done...and now he thinks he's done enough to last us the rest of our marriage
My husband and I, along with a bunch of great friends, go camping several times each summer on Cape Cod. We spend the days at RacePoint Beach, where we drive onto the dunes. Memorial Day Weekend is always our first trip out. On the Saturday of Memorial Day Wknd, he brought me way up to the top of the sand dunes where he had a wine bottle hidden with a message in it. I saw it, thought it was cool and found the "message". As I was reading he got down on his knee... Corny, yes but absolutely fitting for us!

He arranged for a private tour of the Phillies new ballpark. I didn't know it was arranged and thought it just happened to be the two of us that random November Tuesday. When we got to the part of the tour where you get to go into the dugout and onto the field, he got down on his knee. We met at a game so it was extra special.
We were living in San Francisco at the time. He took me to my favorite lunch spot in Santa Rosa, and then a long drive along the coast. Unbeknownst to me, there is a state park/beach in his last name, so we pulled in there. The weather had been getting grayer & colder by the mile, so I really wasn't up for a long walk in the sand. So he popped the question pretty quickly. He had thought ahead and had champagne/glasses in the car. But the rain caught up to us, so we toasted in the car, and steamed up the windows a bit.
We were married 5 months later, 4 years ago.

I was stealing change from his change jar and found a ring hidden in there. When I opened the box a polishing cloth fell out without me noticing it. DH saw the cloth on the floor and knew I had found the ring. We each pretended not to know anything for several hours before he confronted me. Then he asked how he should propose and I told him to tie the ring to our dog's collar or something. Next thing I know our dog wanders up to me with the box--not just the ring but the actual box--taped to her collar with electrical tape. She was so confused. It took me forever to get it untaped. Then he got down on one knee. It was quite the comedy of errors.
When I'm feeling insecure I wonder if he would have ever gotten up the nerve to propose if I hadn't found the ring. I also wonder what kind of proposal he would have come up with on his own. Guess I'll never know.

I literally LOL at this which made DH look at me weird haha.
I got home from work and saw the pizza guy leaving our apartment complex. I get inside and see pizza on the table. So I sit down and start to make my plate. There was a bag on top of the pizza that had a salad and dressing in it. I open it up to get that stuff out and I see a white box sitting on top of the salad.
I immediately knew what it was. H was standing right there, he took the box from me and got down on one knee. Of course I don't remember the words he used, but obviously I said yes!
DH took me to dinner on a dinner cruise in Chicago off of Navy Pier. After dinner we went up to the top deck with the Chicago skyline lit up behind us. He didn't get down on one knee which when I asked about later, he said he was so nervous that he didn't want to drop the ring in Lake Michigan.
It was our 2 year dating anniversary. DH scheduled me a mani/pedi and massage. When I got home there were flowers on the table with a note with an M on the top and a clue to the next note. It was a scavenger hunt and all the noted spelled out MARRY ME. The notes were around town. The final one was at a park and there he was !

DH propsed on a beach in Maui at sunset.. "typical beach sunset in hawaii proposal" but i've been going to Maui every year since i was a kid (parents have a condo there) so if he were to propose anywhere, i would rather him do it in my favourite place.
It makes me giggle to say it to people, because it sounds corny but it was really sweet! He took me out to eat at Medieval Times and did this whole thing with the king knighting him and then he was given one wish to be granted, and that is when he proposed. In front of alllll those people, lol! Some guy went "was that for real?" haha
Okay I feel like I need to give some background so if you have seen the movie Johnny Lingo feel free to skip to the next paragraph. Alright so there is this movie called Johnny Lingo where these 2 kids (one girl and one boy) grow up together and the boy at one age leaves the island. The girl stays but as she gets older she is kind of discarded by the community and considered ugly. When the boy comes back he is a respectable wealthy man and is given his choice of wives. He goes to find this girl's father and asks what his father would like for his daughter's hand in marriage. The father simply asks for a chicken. However the boy gives a counter offer of 10 cows (one cow for every year he had been gone and one cow was about normal for a rich daughter). The father was flabbergasted but accepted. A few months later the father visits his now beautiful daughter and begins to demand more. But someone asked why the daughter became so beautiful and the boy just said that when he paid more for her it was to make her feel worth 10 cows which helped bring out her natural beauty.
Well when my DH proposed he got in front of my entire family (extended included) and gave my mom an ice cream cake with 20 chocolate cows (in reference to the movie) on it and then he got down on one knee and proposed to me. And then we enjoyed fireworks since it was the 4th of July.
We have an in ground pool and it lights up a billion pretty colors, and we have a tent with lights along with tiki torches and the mix of everything was perfect. He took me up to the diving board at night and asked me. It was priceless....Except thinking back now it would have been hilarious to jump in the pool immediately after=)

We had dated 1 1/2 years and had both just graduated from college. Since I really thought he was the one and thought he felt the same it just seemed like he would probably propose soon. We hadn't talked about marriage really at all. But this was more b/c I avoided it. I was really big on wanting to have a suprise proposal and didn't want to ruin it by ring shopping, talking about my ideal wedding, etc, etc.
Anyway, my birthday was in the spring and I thought for sure (even without any ring picking or much marriage talk) that he would propose. Instead I got a bike! Real romantic! Then, in June, he randomly asked me to go for a bike ride through a nearby state park. Since it was a beautiful evening, I thought that sounded nice. We headed out on the trails and stopped at a lookout point over a lake where he suggested we watch the sunset. As we looked out over the rail, he put his arms around me from behind. I looked down and saw him holding an open ring box, as well as the words "(Insert name), Will You Marry Me" etched into the wood railing!! Of course, I was suprised and he got down on one knee and did a formal proposal when I turned around.....
We moved away at the end of the summer but, if ever back in town, will still go visit the lookout to see if the message is still there!

My DH had taken me to Rome, Italy (where he is from) for his brothers wedding. I was feeling a little homesick on the 4th of July and that I didn't get to celebrate it, so he took me to the Coloseum late at night and started talking about how the U.S. was only just over 200 years old but the coloseum had been there for centuries, practically an eternity and then he put the ring box on a marble stone in front where I was sitting and said that his "love would last as long as the coloseum has been standing and until it fell to the ground" (*sigh*). I of course said yes immediately!
We have lived in San Diego now for almost 4 years-ish. We used to go for walks on the beach quite often and look for shells and little trails in the sand. So one morning we woke up really early and went to the beach for our usual walk. He was following some trails and I was tagging along when we came across an "x" in the sand. PLEASE NOTE I AM THE MOST OBLIVIOUS PERSON EVER.
So anywho... I say "oo see if someone buried something there" kidding around. So he gets down and started digging. I see him pull out this plastic bag with a ring box in it. I quickly look around and say "OH NO! Put that back! We are ruining someones proposal!!!"
I then realize that he is on one knee and opening the ring box. I started crying. So I say yes and cry some more, then he says "Say hi." I was like, "what are you talking about?!" So he points up to the boardwalk and there is our friend, video taping the whole thing.
DH and i met in HS when he transferred to my school and became friends with my friends. we did not hit it off at all!! i couldnt stand him and he thought i was a b!tch.

I like these types of posts...and it's a good intro post for me! My LO is a week old so I guess it's time to start posting here
DH and I had been talking about getting married. We have very different tastes in jewely (he always goes over the top), so we planned a visit to see his jeweler aunt and design a ring together. She lives 5 hours away in Savannah, GA, so we decided to make a weekend out of it. On the way there, he took a detour. I'm an awful back seat driver, so I kept telling him turn around, you're going the wrong way! Next thing I know, we pulled up to a hot air balloon basket. We started off the weekend with champagne and a hot air balloon ride.
After that, we got back on the road. We arrived at his aunt's and designed the ring (very simple, just like I wanted!). Afterwards, we wandered around Savannah and then went out to eat. He made reservations at a very nice restaurant. When we got there, a bottle of champagne was waiting. The table was covered in candles. I really should've known what was coming, but I had no clue. I started ranting about work and didn't even realize how goofy and nervous DH was acting. Then all of a sudden, he's on his knee with the ring we just designed. His aunt is quick! She got the ring together and slipped it to DH during our visit.
Wow! My knot account still exists - I can just paste this from there:
"Stephen proposed to me on the last night of our
vacation to Prague. We went out to eat at an outdoor restaurant under
Charles Bridge called "Pode Mostem". It was a quiet, candlelit place near
the water. We placed an order for our dinner and Stephen handed me an
i-pod pouch...rubber banded at the top. He told me it was a souvenir to
celebrate our last night there. When I realized what it was, I handed
the pouch back to him and requested a more traditional proposal. He then
got down on his knee and asked me to be his wife. (Not without the
waitress coming to our table right that second to pour more water.)
I gladly accepted his offer and barely touched my food from all the
excitement!"
