MIL wants to get LO one of these. I thought it was a great idea, but DH thinks it would be weird after "she's gone" as in passed away to hear her voice everytime that book is opened. WDYT? Does your LO have one? Who's voice is on it?
Is your MIL sick? My mom is doing one for AJ. They're going to read it together on Christmas Eve, then he'll have it to keep. I think it's so sweet. And if something were to happen to her, I would love that we had her voice on it.
We got one as a gift, but I've never recorded the story. I don't know how long the battery in it will last. It may not play on "forever." FWIW--I could see now where your DH could think it's weird to hear her voice later on, but he might see it differently after she is gone.
I think it's a great idea... my mom passed away 2 1/2 years ago (before DD was born) and I would love to have had a book like that for her! I think it's a very special gift for your LO.

No MIL isn't sick...but she's going to be 67 this year and he just thought it would be weird.
I bought them specifically for when they're gone! I hope the battery lasts.....I think it will be nice to hear them read the story after they've passed.

Ah. I just thought I missed some backstory. I think in the end he would think it was sweet. And if not, you could always get rid of it later.
My mom did one for my son last year. Since then she has now moved here from being in a different state. She is visiting my older brother and new niece and my son misses her, but every night before he goes to be he opens the book to hear her voice and waves at the book. It is too cute!
My kids each have one that DH recorded for them before he went back to Afghanistan last week. They are so madly in love with these books it's not even funny. And if the unthinkable were to happen, I would actually love the books even more because it's another reminder of what their daddy's voice sounded like.
My parents and grandma made one for DS this year. he loves it. I'd love to have a voice recorded book with my grandpa's voice on it and I'd probably still listen to it now even though he is gone.

We got one from Hallmark for DS for X-mas and it says even if you change the battery the recording stays!

Yes, I'd love to have one with my gma's voice. She died not quite 2 yrs ago, and she lived in my house my entire life. I really miss her, and wish I had that for DD to listen to as well.

So sweet.... my thoughts are THIS exactly about either grandparents or parents....
