Crazy coincidence...need major vibes

Hi girls!  So, not sure if any of you remember the story about my 2nd cousin, Matt, who passed away from testicular cancer last December.  He was 34 years old, with a very young son and wife.

And, do any of you remember this past August, when my dad was involved in a scary bike wreck?  He was riding in Pelatonia, which is a bicycle ride for cancer research.  He blacked out during the ride and had to be rushed to the hospital.  Tests were run and they were inconclusive as to why he blacked out.  They continued running tests and found a small spot on his lung, which turned out to be cancer.  They just diagnosed him this Wednesday.  It is called small cell carcinoma.  The doctor wanted to move quickly, in case the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes.  He's having surgery this Tuesday and they are going to remove the upper lobe of his right lung.  He'll be in the hospital for up to 10 days.  They will evaluate the stage of the cancer to determine treatment.  Removal of the lung may be all they need to do, or he may need chemo or radiation.

Now, the crazy coincidence of this whole thing, besides the fact that a random fall on a cancer research bike ride led to my dad's diagnosis of cancer, is that Matt's 1 year anniversary of his death is this Tuesday...the same day as my dad's surgery.  The whole thing just gives me goosebumps.  Small cell lung cancer is very rarely diagnosed this early, which makes me believe that Matt had a hand in this.

I think I'm still in shock and denial about everything.  My grandma was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2006 and had surgery to remove it.  The doctors said that they were able to contain the cancer.  She passed away 2 months later from cancer that had spread throughout her entire body.  It was a horrible thing to see happen to a very strong and healthy woman.  I'm scared that this is what is going to happen to my dad.

So, I would appreciate any vibes you could send our way.  My dad is a spitfire and has a very good attitude about this.  I'm trying to remain positive and hope for the best.  I'll keep you girls posted with any updates.
