nursery furniture in white & espresso?

What do you guys think about non matching nursery furniture?  We already had a dresser/changer in white, so we bought a white crib to match.  The problem is I didn't like any white glider/rockers, so I got an espresso glider with really light (almost white) cushions.

We aren't setting the room up for a few weeks, but I wanted to hear some input~ I am not a home decorator by any means and can use all the help I can get.  If it helps, the room has a little alcove type area to the side and that is where the glider will be (so kind of hidden for the most part)  TIA!

Re: nursery furniture in white & espresso?

  • Yes, i think it'll look nice! Some more expensive designers are using both white and espresso wood in THE SAME PIECE.  It looks good too, I'm just not sure if it will be a look that lasts - but I'm sure your glider won't stay in your nursery forever, so go for it!! :)

  • I think it would be fine.  Our stuff isn't going to match at all.  I am getting what I get and going to be happy with it.  Plus, I think the white-ish cushions will make it all mesh together.

  • My nursery furniture is white and my rocker is just very dark wood (but not quite espresso). I think it'll be fine, especially with the cushions. Don't worry, if you don't like it you can always paint the rocker white too without much trouble.

  • I think that will look great.  We ended up getting all white nursery furniture but we have a mix of white and dark wood in our living room.

I didn't even think about painting it~ I suppose that is always an option =)

Thanks ladies~ I was starting to feel a little crazy about it, so I appreciate the reassurance!
