I'm posting here cause there seems to be more action than on the AP board....all I want is to wear LO on my back. She really likes to look out and see stuff but from what I've heard its not good to wear her facing out in my stretchy wrap...which makes sense..she doesn't feel supported at all. So all I want is a wrap or something so I can wear her on my back. I dont know if I'm looking in the wrong place but it seems that woven wraps are only sold overseas...? I found one on Amazon for $125. Are they usually that expensive? I've been to babywearers.com but its kinda hard to navigate thru and LO doesn't give me enough time to go thru it.
So if you have something that puts LO on your back that you love, let me know where I can get one!!!! I dont want to spend 100 bucks but i'm desperate!!!!
Re: give it to me straight re: wraps
I love my ergo! It is pretty expensive, but it's so much easier/quicker than my woven wraps.
Ergos have less of a learning curve than wraps do, but my issue with back carrying in the Ergo is that DS isn't high enough. He can't see anything, and I'm not as aware of his position and breathing as I am with a woven, which is pretty important when considering back carries. Not so much an issue with an older/bigger baby/toddler, but for now I would be careful.
Unfortunately, yes, new wovens usually are that expensive. BUT you can go visit The Babywearer, sign up, and check out their For Sale Or Trade board. I just bought a wrap for considerably less than what I would have paid for it brand new. The mama I bought it from had only used it a couple of times too, so basically it IS a new wrap for all intents and purposes. And a lot of times you'll find that buying used wovens is better too because they're already broken in and softer.
And by all means wander over to the AP board. It might look dead but there are several regulars who check in at least once a day. We might not respond immediately, but usually by the next day or so you'll have some good responses. And the mamas there never get tired of answering wrap or carrier questions. If you want good advice from some real friendly mamas, that's the place to go!
If you post on the AP board also, the mamas there might be able to point you towards a babywearing group in your area where you can go and actually try out different wovens and find what you like. HTH!
I LOVE my Becco Gemini carrier (~$130). DD can face out in it and she charms everyone whenever we go out. It's a great way to solve a fussy day in our household. When she's drowsy but wont nap, I have her face me and she'll settle down (which never worked with our moby wrap).
DH & I both think it was totally worth the cost. Plus the carrier goes back & forth between us quick & easy.
