Babies: 3 - 6 Months

When to do less formula?

So I know when you first introduce solids, you're not supposed to reduce the total amount of formula/BM for the day.  But, when do you?

DD LOVES her fruits, veggies and oatmeal, but is starting to not want to take all of each of her bottles.

I'll follow up with my pedi in about a week and a half at DD's 6mo well visit, but thought I'd get some ideas from you all.

Re: When to do less formula?

  • well it's normal for a little one to drop off a few ounces of formula once s/he starts solids. definitely consult your pedi for advice but as i understand it, a baby should still be getting 24-32 ounces of formula a day even with solids. if she is consistently taking less than that at this age, you may need to cut out some of the solids. but that's definitely something to talk to the pedi about because it depends on your LO's weight and all that good stuff.
