At my appointment on Tuesday, the PA told me to take "Slow Fe 325mg 2x daily." I went to buy some and all the tablets are 60mg or a little less. I started wondering if I was more than just "slightly" anemic because there's a huge difference between 60 and 325. Plus, all these bottles come with 30 tablets... I found the actual "Slow Fe" brand she was talking about and just bought that (well the up & up version sitting right next to it). I googled it when I got home and it turns out, 325mg refers to the ferrous sulfate not elemental iron. It would have been nice to know before I started freaking out about my iron levels.

Yeah she told me about that. She said the slow release is better on the digestive system, and to drink a ton of water to help also. I've been pretty lucky thus far with constipation ::knock on wood::

I got put on that last week too. But the nurse just told me to take "325mg of ferrous sulfate" and that was it. I was SEARCHED the vitamin/supplement aisle forever with out finding anything with that amount or name. I found something close but it was ten bucks for a week supply. So I walked to the pharmacist counter and showed him my post-it and he grabbed it right away from behind the counter. I was super relieved when 100 day supply was only two bucks.

I haven't had any poop issues yet *knock on wood* but it's only been a week.

vflipo, be warned Iron tablets can also make your poo black'ish! I had to iron pills after the m/c because I had lost so much blood and my hemoglobin was low, and no one warned me off the side effects!! I thought i had a G.I. bleed somewhere too!

Yeah, check with the pharmacist next time. And yay for coupon and card! I go to the senior center once a month and do card making. It's tons of fun, and probably the highlight of my weekend, lol. Glad you could use the coupon
